Comment section seems far too harsh. I found I always wanted more gold, but, I always had gold to spend, just had to choose who to upgrade or when to add more units. Perhaps the game just needs an easier intro level? After a couple of bad starts, I found a Ranged offense was perfect. 3-4 Catapults, couple of archers and the Ranged Elven General were capable of clearing all maps in half the alloted time. A couple of Infantry to protect them and a Chivalry for running around capturing Secondary objectives were all I needed to round out my armies.
Good game, many comments here are crazy. The game is actually too EASY to beat, not too hard. There is luck, but the game is not luck based. If you can't beat the simplistic AI, a real opponent would crush you 9/10 times. Luck would help you win that one in ten. If you've ever played M:TG or any similar games, the strong strategies become obvious.
