For those of you wondering about the stats:
Attack: increases attack damage
Critical: increases chance to deal a critical strike (bonus damage)
Stun: increases chance to deal a "stun attack" (aoe damage)
Potion find: increases chance to find potions
Life steal: heals you when you attack
Deathstrike: increases chance to deal a "death strike" (???)
Chop: increases chance to deal a "chop" attack (axes only, deals bonus damage)
Cleave: increases chance to deal a "cleave" attack (hits everyone around you)
xproc: increases chance to cast your equipped spell on attack
xcrit: increases damage multiplier of critical strikes
xdefend: increases chance to ignore damage (???)
Runspeed: increases your movement speed
Hope this helps, if anyone knows what a death strike is do tell, and if I'm wrong about a stat please correct me.
Finally, you "level up" whenever you run into a death-end room and clear it.
Great game. All I can suggest is to have other pirate ships fight brigands instead of everyone trying to shoot you down, would be nice to use that to your advantage in certain situations.
So, I finish a zone's quests and I have to keep grinding for over 5 levels before I'm high enough for the next zone, not to mention the need to grind crafting materials to get my crafting high enough for the next zone's mats even though my gear is already better than the one I can craft?
You sir, are a genius at simulating a real MMO.
"To rule these lands you can either conquer its cities one by one or defeat the king in a tournament and he'll yield his crown to you"
"Let's do both!"
Adding a few more maps would make it better. Also, running around picking up random items doesn't really cut it, add something to it. For example, instead of picking up the bomb and making your opponent slower, make it so I can activate the bomb to make him trip and fall, and if I do it while he's in a log he could fall into the water and cost him more time to get up.
"Skipping" a loop by going over it really screws things up, you run into an invisible wall, then somehow mario goes through the roof without getting "hurt" and eventually the level resets. I'd recommend, if you want to stop people from skipping the loops, putting a wall on top of it.
Also, like Yoran said, you can't gain enough speed to make a complete loop and the jumping is sort of buggy; you can jump anytime the bike or Mario is in contact with anything (doesn't matter if you're on a free fall but one of the wheel is touching the wall; jumping is possible).
Soooo... it's dishonorable to fight someone with a bigger army than you but lower level, but honorable to fight someone with no army at all but higher level?
