This game is amazing. Truly one of the best flash games I've ever played, demonstrating mastery of game design. This is pure genius, a brilliant idea executed very well. The game is not without its flaws (the music is lacking, and the ending is anti-climactic), but still this game has me in awe. 5/5
As a fan of the Metroid series (as one could tell from my name), I like the concept of this game and was drawn to it by its description. However, I find this an immature attempt at the MetroidVania style. The save points are littered too far apart for how often you die (especially true with the boss) and it's boring to get back to where you originally were, due to lack of enemy regeneration. These problems could potentially be fixed by having multiple rooms inside the large area and it would still feel Metroid-like, with respawning inside the same room. Speaking of the boss, he wasn't fun to fight; he was just monotonous and tedious. There's also a bit of leap-of-faith gameplay with the rocket power-ups, which is never good. It's a good start, but it has some flaws that keep it from being a good tribute to the games it's trying to mimic. 2/5
By the way, the badges worked fine for me.
Fun, interesting concept. Enjoyable, addictive, but short. The last level was a little anticlimactic, but whatever. I mostly thought it to be easy (only had to look at the solution for one level). 4/5
I have fun with this game. The controls work well and just the mechanics of the game are enjoyable. Balancing adapting to the pursuing enemies by changing your shooting angle, bullettime, and when and where to go berserk are all elements that put a unique flair on the shmup.
This game annoys me. It's impossible to not drift, but more often than not drifting hurts you. It's also very inconsistent with how sharp your turns are. Sometimes I'll fly around a corner and hit the outside; sometimes I'll hit the inside due to a turn being unexpectedly sharp. Once you get to the 5th and 6th levels, some of the challenges are crazy. You need ABSOLUTE PERFECTION to beat the race in the time needed for the challenges. Additionally, I'm not even sure that there are any more than 40 objects on race 6. The inconsistencies of skidding make it difficult to do the 200 skid thing and the CPU racers oftentimes knock you into cones/barriers/jumps when you're trying to avoid them (though those seem to be possible enough) and the collision detection being too generous just makes it worse.
Simply not fun.

Quite good. The graphics are minimal so they don't detract from the experience, while the levels are designed pretty well. This game is enjoyable, and difficult in its own right. I just found it a little too short.
