Looks like a fun game, but just too awkward for me to play. I have a high end 17" laptop, and most games play quite well except for this one. The problem is with the height of the graphics. The bottom taskbar in my browser along with the top menu bars hide a portion of the game. One has to continually scroll the game up and down to see/access the top and bottom parts of the game. The solution is to remove the task bar and above menu bars (both IE and firefox), which would enable seeing all the game. I'm not about to do that for just one game, so I am moving on. Just posting here for the dev's fyi.
I've played a LOT of games here and this has to be one of the best. Whomever developed this is a sheer genius. This game has so many nuances, twists, and turns it makes it totally captivating. Thank you Mr. Developer!! (btw, I'm at level 30 and about to finish after much too many hours of playing:)
All my mercs are at level 50, top gear, etc, but after level 45, the games begins to become unplayable as the missions are crazy difficult. I've played the game for several months now, but it's no longer fun if you can't eventually master all the missions. I can't get pass missions 47.2 or 50.5. Obviously, some people are able to, but not me with whatever I try. So this really ends it for me now, and I have to declare defeat now.
To Mr. FartB: Perhaps between your boasting and demeaning comments you could offer some advice that would make the game a better experience. Your points are well taken except for the pomposity.
I believe there's a situation that seems statistically impossible: Has ANYONE been able to achieve a gold medal on Level 37,"Homesteading". The achievement requirements are: "at least 19 head shots", "40 bullets or less", "take 3 or less hits". This means 2 bullets per head shot and at least one hit. I have 3 snipers, level 45, sniper skill in the 90's. It's my belief that one cannot even come close--a gold is a virtual impossibility, and i suspect getting a silver is too. Note to developer: I'll bet 100 gold to yours that no one has gotten a gold at this engagement.
One last comment. I noticed several folks mentioning that the game takes a long time to load. FWIW, over the last 3 weeks I've never have had a problem loading. Usually takes 10 seconds or less. I live in the state of Washington and use comcast.
To continue my comments above, I should mention that my mercs have the latest and best armour, guns, etc. 3 are snipers and one a machine gunner. After being killed, the costs to repair all damage and bring them back to health is again very expensive. Levels in the 40's are extremely difficult, I can't imagine what they are in the 50's. Anyway, it's frustrating after continuing spending a lot of real $'s money to play this and getting not much reward for it. Perhaps snipers are not the best choice at these levels, but the cost to reconfigure them with different guns is too much money when not knowing if it is the solution.
I really like this game and have been playing some 3 weeks. Unfortunately, it's become prohibitively expensive and simply too hard to play. My 4 mercs are level 45. For example, I tried to play level 47 "Hold up". My mercs are a bit below recommended levels. The achievement reqs are: "10 or less hits", "20 or less turns", & "60 or less bullets" Seemed doable. No way. All 5 mercs killed maybe halfway through. 114 bullets fired. These were premium bullets at 54 gold/200 bullets. I can't even get through complete to complete the levels 41 & 45. I don't know what I can do as it's just becoming too expensive, and the play too disappointing....
Well, after playing for a few days I'm somewhat addicted to it. Two comments about game play. 1) head shots are too expensive in terms of resources, and in some scenarios where 25 headshots is required, it's nearly if not impossible to achieve. I'm at level 26 with premium everything. 2) lately I've been getting disconnected from the server in the middle of a game. It would really be nice if the game state was saved on re-entry--it's not fair to lose all the resources that were used.
My last comment was a bit off base regarding the cost of gold. After playing the game a bit more, you can proceed nicely w/o much gold. Since I AM enjoying the game, I will buy some gold simply to support the developer.
Heya, I am happy you gave it another shot and enjoy playing. We also appreciate your initial feedback and would be happy to receive more of it, either here in the comments or on the forums - we regularly check both! Welcome to Jagged Alliance Online. :)
I played this game for perhaps 2 hours and was learning to like it. It's intricate and complex; obviously a great deal of time went into its design and development. I did not play any further however nor do I plan to in the future. The turn off for me was the high cost of the game's "gold" that is used for permanent purchases of mercenaries and their equipment. For example, the cost to buy a permanent mercenary is 267 gold coins. I played 2 missions, which returned 10 coins each. I could tell it was going to take forever to purchase equipment, etc. with gold. You can purchase gold with kreds at the approximate rate of 3 gold for each kred. That's makes for an expensive game. Just a mercenary is almost 10 bucks, not to mention the cost to outfit him and others. I really support giving developers their due, but this is just too expensive for a game that I may play only randomly. With a rate of maybe 30 gold for one kred the developer would have my $10 in a flash.
my last comment was incorrect re winning the last level. You need the bandit (using splash damage), the cowboy (the option for slowing things down), and the Indian to expose the invisible raiders....
I really liked the, better than most and I've played about every strategy and defense game on Kong. Yes, the last level is tough--can only be beaten by using the 3 first warriors, upgrading timely, and proper placement. It's different from the other levels where you can sit back and wait for $'s to buy the big guns. Bottom: a very fun and satisfying game....
Went to pay for the upgrade with kreds, in short, during the process, I lost all of my accumulated shields/points--wtf, no autosave?? I give up, they didn't get my kreds, I didn't recover my current game, so what's the point?? I'll move on to another game that ensures it get saved. So frustrating, but such an easy thing to implement, autosave. All my other games autosave w/o issues..
I've already mentioned how great a game this is, but there's one minor change I'd like to see made. It's one of those "gotcha's".
When in battle, the tab for calling a "draw" lies between the "Attacker's turn" and "Player's attack" tab. Several times while winning the battle, I've inadvertently hit the "draw" tab, which takes you immediately out of the battle. Very frustrating. A somewhat minor annoyance, but it can really be disastrous especially when you are on the last path.
I'd like to see one of two changes made. Either a "are you sure?" secondary tab, or move this this tab to another area on the screen.
This is one of the best games here!! The developer obviously has put a lot of work and imagination into this game, and it shows!! More complex than most, more addicting, more entertaining. What else can someone say? Some games stand out, and this is one of them.
A 5 star rating and 50 Krebs--well deserved!!
