Maybe it's become nostalgia at this point, but I really like the music, especially the level clear sound. Just listening to it: "This is a Bart Bonte game!"
Rather than "updated daily, for 2190+ updates", I'm pretty sure it's been more likely updated *monthly, not including the yearly update adding the previous year's collection of dailies. Not saying ~80 updates on a single flash game is small, or anything, mind you.
Thanks to the Flashpoint archive being a thing, I'd had some small hope for a final version that would include both the 2019 dailies, as well as the up-'til-now 2020's, but well, it's not like I don't understand just moving on to other things. It's been over 6 (fun) years now, since this came out.
Given the name, I'd been expecting a quiz based on brands, logos, and icons. Also, a number of these, I've had no interaction with whatsoever: for example, I've never used Chrome, so I have no idea about its specifics. Also, the color shade choices could afford to be a bit more distinct.
I remember playing a very similar game on Popcap games an age ago. I think it was around 2003, and named Noah's Ark. Can't remember if it had a time limit on the levels, though.
In the end, I used the walkthrough to get the 5436 answer (and still have no idea where it came from), as I'd run out of other puzzles to do. Squeezing multiple answers into the same clue was nice: I've seen it before, but it's super rare. I hate sliding block puzzles with a passion, and have quit games outright instead of doing them, so the time-out skip was pretty nice.
Should be "written", not "wrote": "I wrote this." "How many essays have you written?" Though, given it's a game about fake news, I feel like the inaccuracy was maybe intentional.
And when you finally trudge home at the end, your mother demands to know where you've been ALL THIS TIME!! She's already been to the store and back 3 times. First, she waited, then she went to the store for butter, then more waiting, then to the store and back 2 more times looking for YOU... Better explain yourself, buster!
Although R to rotate doesn't work at all, by dragging conveyor belts, whichever direction the belt was heading last, the next components used will also point in that direction. A silly work around, but at least it works.
Futzed with the game a bit more: A lot of the useful stuff seems to unlock by letting things break. For example, ignoring maintenance and repairing rooms a few times unlocks the ability to buy more houses. Repairing (and selling?) a few damaged houses unlocks hiring the Maintenance Team. Cleaning up after a Roommate (leaves due to lack of cleaning) a lot will unlock hiring a Deep Cleaner (cleans up after roommates for you), and the Cleaners (cleans any room not inhabited by roommates).
I've got 6 Libraries, 3k books, 6 Librarians, 2 Workshops, and about 60k cash. It feels like something will probably unlock iff I get enough cash, but there's no sign of what might lead to anything, and I'm also tired of clicking the Clean Rooms button, so I'm done. Could become a better game if a great deal more info was given to the player.
Thanks for playing! My guess is that you were too careful cleaning and maintaining to reach the most common ending. You could let the game idle for a while (maybe a day as you are?) to reach another. Other than the endings, you've seen the game's content. It's really short. I'll add more info for my next game. I thought the experimenting would be fun in this game, if you know what to do you just click a thousand time to read an expected message and you're done.
Okay, so, due to another commenter, I *did* find the spoiler list in the forum. Needed the spoiler to get extra10 started. And, even with a correct image to look at, I still think extra8 was pretty dang hard.
Mysterious: having gotten stumped on a level, I went to the Levels menu (it did give me a confirm popup). After doing so, the farthest level I could go to was the one I had solved just prior to the one I was stumped on. In other words, to return to the level I was stuck on, I had to resolve the previous level. o.o?
What browser are you using? Everything should be separate, except the occasional info text over the bar graph.
