@gedanken_welten: open the game in a second tab, play around there... if it works, close the old one, if it doesn't, close the new one. The cookies will be updated from whichever one you keep open as long as you don't close them both too quickly.
Even at maximum zoom out, the history popup dialog box still gets in the way of some maps no matter where you try moving it. Could be easily solved by getting rid of that large blank rectangular space in the centre of the history box.
