The game is more random than i'd like, but its an OK time. I really like turn based strategy in this style, but randomness on top of randomness makes this kinda meh for me.
Crits and misses are one thing, what you can do being randomized by cards is another layer on top of that entirely that I find to be a little jarring to deal with.
Still, i'll play it every now and then because it pulls of the genre fairly well otherwise.
The game goes wonky and skips (and is faster?) quite a bit if I set it to 60 FPS, but then plays just fine at 30.
I'm on a macbook air, so I don't know if that has anything to do with it, but i've watched enough youtube critic videos to wonder if the gameplay speed is locked to the frames/second?
Also running in software mode, so that could also be it. It isn't accepting my hardware acceleration setting for some reason.
Other than that, fun so far. I'm a huge fan of this universe.
Both fps settings should run at the same speed. If you're forced to play in software mode, you're gonna have a hard time getting any sort of good performance. ):
I really liked this game, but I would have preferred to continue playing and BE THE VERY BEST LIKE NO ONE EVER WAS!
The random generation elements were super cool.
I thought it was fun. It's actual turn-based strategy, so that's always fun. It's rather easy, though. One illusionist, one healer and a ranger worked out rather well for me. As long as you go through the whole level, you should get enough coins to survive the next. Getting 100% treasure isn't needed to get a good team.
The healer is actually useful, since players can last longer in general if they are healed beforehand. :P
Having a healer plus that paladin guy you save heals two hp/battle, which is essentially .5-1 attack absorbed per fight per character. IF you get hit, since in my case, illusions were running around being illusory and annoying.
Different combos work differently, as anything else.
Fun!
If you look at everything and think about it... "I'm sorry" appears in one of the detention chambers, which is likely a previous holding chamber for the player...
It might be a very creepy/depressing game, but is is still good.
There are a lot of ways to reduce randomness as you build your collection and choose how to construct your party. Good luck!
