If you were to implement badges or achievements, I would recommend that a time of less than three minutes would be easy to achieve, and a time of less than ninety seconds would be very difficult to almost impossible. As for their score counterparts, a hole-in-one on every level would be an obvious choice.
TLDR: Overall 4/5
This is a really good game. I like how instead of the one obvious category for high scores, there is an additional category for time trial speed-runs. One area that I believe could be easily improved is by making a reset button. It is rather tedious to hit escape then click exit and begin anew. An additional area that can be improved would be if there was some way to practice the level, perhaps with a small laser guide. I would recommend that if you did implement this feature, that it may be in the best interest of the spirit of competition to randomize the background tiles in order to dissuade visual leads. Other obvious areas of improvement include more levels, but I would say to keep it in a 9 level pack. That is, you can play either the first pack or the second pack, and you are not forced to play the other one to record scores.
Thanks for the feedback! I've got a few interesting ideas for mechanics and levels for the back 9 so if it looks like there's demand for some trickier levels then I'll be happy to add some more.
I definitely agree with keeping them in blocks of 9, and then your score for the full 18 would be based off of your best runs for the front 9 and the back 9.
A quick restart that skips past the little tutorial popup is also a great idea, and I'd also like to add an option for a visible timer for speedruns, because it isn't clear in the game that the timer pauses while you're paused and in the level transition cutscenes (and counts up slower when you're in slo-mo).
Cheers!
[TLDR: 4/5] This is a very good Platformer game. It is not the best in the world as there are some improvements that could be made, such as the checkpoints not saving the levels progress. Due to this, occasionally I treated the checkpoint as an obstacle to be avoided. I like the difficulty with this game, and the pixel artwork is amazing. However, if I could change one sprite, I would change the spike sprite to make it look either more cone-ish or more menacing. In the end I would say that if you could fix the minor issues that I had with the game, I would rate it 4.5/5, whereas it is currently 4/5. If you could make jumping feel more smooth, that would bump the score up even higher.
Overall, pretty cool. Would have liked it more if it was a bit harder. Currently 3/5, but with a new mechanic for puzzles, this could easily go up to 4/5. UI was great.
There is no level 23. If you notice, you go from 22 to 24 directly because something took control of you during that level to make you press that button.
And for the score you should have one, I'll recheck the submission system. Try just reopening the game to the main menu, no need to replay it.
I have beaten level two. My final design was a sponsor-powered drawbridge that destroyed itself after one use. After watching that spectacle play out, the Olympics seem lame by comparison.
Overall, this was a fun game. I wish there were more levels. With better visual quality, more level elements, and more levels, this could be a excellent game. 4/5
damn, thank you very much for that feedback. :D didn't expect that.
I made this in 4 days for a gamejam, so yes, it lacks content. But you just motivated me to further polish the game, and make more levels :), thanks again!
I would like to play this game, but for some reason the game does not load. In case the developer sees this, I am using Mozilla Firefox. The game seems interesting though.
Was a pretty okay game, but the art style ruined it for me. I kept on thinking that Santa was a hobo, every five levels was an annoying break that took forever to get through, and once you memorized a few tricks, the game was rather easy. Plus the icing on the cake for this travesty was that I kept on seeing those stupid "I make $486 Every Day" Everyone knows that that is virus bait, but Kong doesn't seem to want to get rid of them. All of the circumstances contributed to a 2/5 rating.
This was a good game, I would have given it five stars, but the camera angle and the game making me feel slow lowered it to four stars. This game has potential, and it would be a waste for the developers to ignore these issues, please change them, and I will change my rating to 5 stars.
Thanks for playing and the kind words!
I understand the slow feeling you talk about, but I'm not sure what problem is there with the camera angle. Is it a problem with seeing more of one side than the other?
Anyways I hope I can update the game some time soon with some upgrades :)
And again, thanks!
This was an interesting game, perfect for those who want to torture themselves. I also liked how the description called it a confusing click adventure.
