I like to use matt and only click when his regular attack is full, then use the sub and bombs when necessary. Subs would be to get through tough rounds of boss fire(kill it quick) and bomb is for dodging. Could work for no legs but he has 1 less bomb :(
perhaps maintain velocity when the mouse leaves the play area so it can spin freely. also, maybe skins(dice, companion cube?). It could also be cool if we could control the "idle" spin that happens when the mouse doesn't move.
My strategy: Amass many goblins/dwarf engineers with succubi, gorillas, and sylphs. Rush in and then buff with shield/attack/crits when the anger waves show up. The enemy castle should fall quickly(assuming you used shield before your goblins, etc got killed). Just starting epic now but I think it should work for most levels on this mode too.
How to beat cave 5 - Use Units- Witch, Centaur, Black Knight, Succubus, Goblin, Mermaid, Use Spells - Healing, Phoenix Bird, Hercules, Athena, and Arrows. Just keep hitting forward. When your mass army is at the front of the castle and you hear the first ring, cast Athena on your melee units and Hercules on your ranged units. Use phoenix and arrows when you have less troops and want to clear out the way. Re-post if getting to the bottom.
