Great game! Very well polished, a lot of strategy (the rogues and advanced units make this game stand out compared to others in the genre), and great level design.
Is there any way to "tip" game designers any more? I think I was the only person to use this feature--you're welcome to have my last 30 kreds (don't spend them all in one place!)
Excellent character design, pickups, environments and enemies. Lots of fun.
Body armor is a little overpowered, and it is a little tedious to start all the way over after getting to the final boss the third time.
Sometimes it's easy to tell when a game has been designed by programmers who want to make a fun new experience for other players, and when a game has been designed by a committee hoping to simply make money from consumers.
Nice work, Nerdook! I think you're getting better at level design and execution. Your games have always had interesting ideas, but I've really dug the past few and played them to the end (compared to about 50% of your earlier games).
Great game. One quibble: I found that removing the smoke-ring meter made blowing them difficult. The game removed the meter before I got good at it, and I still have a tough time knowing what the timing should be.
A few easily fixable bugs:
Door key #8 no longer works on Door #8 after you've gone in once
Bobby pin only works on doors the plot knows you need to get into (text fix?)
J**z stains don't show up on skeezy guy in alley (shouldn't the UV light work on him if nothing else?)
Fun game, but the premium content is a bit expensive. I don't mind paying $1-2 to support designers (and maybe get a few goodies) but more than that seems a bit much.
Still a great game overall; I had a lot of fun.
Other people have talked about the gameplay, but I was impressed with the storytelling too. It was fully integrated into the gameplay, was interesting, and had some nice ambiguities (gun decides to go non-violent after it's already killed a bunch of people, which is how things probably would go in real life).
This game manages to do well both at being silly and at having a large scope, with many characters, levels and minigames. Both of these things are surprisingly difficult to pull off right.
Fun game. Let me just say that this is a fun, clever game with great design.
But %%@!%($$!## those insta-deaths are annoying when one has to start all the way over from the beginning of a level, collecting all those $%@$!@!# coins, notes, etc.
This is a fun zombie game with a nice concept, but the last level is frustratingly hard (for me, the frustrating part comes from not being able to see what I did wrong or what I needed to do).
Still, I had a good time and look forward to a sequel.
Things I'd like to see in a sequel/remake (feel free to add others):
More reactions (gun hand, legs, gut shot, groin, etc)
Different guns
Adjustable difficulty
More bonus levels (maybe you AS the assistant getting shot at?)
This is a simple game in many ways, but there are many tiny elements that make it great (bits bouncing down after a headshot, silly bonus rounds), nice character design, etc. Looking forward to a sequel/remake with extra features.
