My only problem with this whole game is that I always try to use as few units as possible, and I never once got a unit to their final level before a final boss.
The slowdowns probably revolve around sending 1500+ units in the last few waves. I recommend using units with some health, and not just flooding them.
Decent start, though.
One thing I'd really enjoy is knowing the stats of my towers: damage, speed/frequency of attack, and maybe a quantitative range.
Second, I wish we could see how much health an enemy has.
Besides those, it's an ok game. It'd be much better to have fewer waves and more levels. Once you get a basic design of how you do a level, it's easy to just upgrade/build better towers to deal with waves, but new levels makes you make a new design. The only game that did well with lots of waves was Onslaught, and that was just because of all the combos (which were awesome).
Few things I notice that I haven't seen mentioned.
1. No Splash, area of effect style tower/s. I think this really hurts.
2. Upgrading towers is always a bonus. It makes for a lot better and more diverse strategies, which is important with TDs. Without any upgrade options, people will quickly find the most effect tower/tactic and spam it. It also keeps graphical needs (read: lag) down because you don't need so many towers, just stronger ones. Whether upgrading is experience based (need so many kills), automatic or manual (after x kills you either DO become stronger, or you have the option. Think Protector), or just cost-based (most TDs, Desktop Tower Defense being the simplest).
3. Along with upgrading, an option to increase the range/potency of support towers would be nice, even if other towers aren't upgradable.
4. I like your graphics and animations. Finally something gory (well, a little) in TD/flash.
Spirit Assistance is fine. Onimaru's Double Slash costs the same and deals 52 damage on the SAME turn + a proc that disables range changes. And it's the only decently powerful move Ubuntu has.
I think you win more rank points if you have more characters alive when you win. I was rank 14, won once and was rank 15, then won with all my characters alive and hit rank 16. 300 some points in 2 wins.
I think the whole thing just needs to go a little faster. I'm through the 3rd or 4th level and it all just seems so slow. Make enemies move faster; it's too easy as it is. Too easy to hit enemies, too easy to win, your base has too much HP, the one time I had 3-5 flying around it it only went down 1/5th health.
Just too slow and too easy, but I like the idea.
And people, it's NOT a TOWER DEFENSE, it says "TURRET".
Could use more music, of course. But I like the difficulty, "Geek" definitely gets pretty tough. I think you could be MUCH harsher on failing songs. D's and maybe C's could probably be fail-worthy.
Spartans is definitely the easiest mode. Campaign is tough, but it's easier to start if you buy the Uzi after the first day, a couple gunmen, and get Flamer Joe (put him in the middle) ASAP. Upgrade his range and fire rate as you can, and he'll take care of all those pesky swordsmen for a long, long time (Until you can get 70 gunmen to kill them all.)
Could use more cards, with more interesting things. A way to purchase different guns, with different spreads would be awesome, too. Or different specials for each level. I never figured out what the second level shield was.
brenm666, I think the reasoning is that if you beat it once, going through the next two times shouldn't be as difficult, and therefore you shouldn't get 30 for each character you go through with (30 for the first, 60 for the next two).
