It looks like gold is NOT accumulating while offline. I've been hanging on 72 billion earned for a good few days now, when my earn rate should have pushed me well beyond 100 billion.
Running 32GB system ram myself and getting out of memory errors as well.
What I'm seeing in the JS console, in case it helps:
[1] Too many sprite tiles on Image "progressLine". The tile size will be increased. To remove the limit on the number of tiles, set the Wrap mode to Repeat in the Image Import Settings
(Filename: ./Runtime/Export/Debug/Debug.bindings.h Line: 35)
[2] Cannot enlarge memory arrays. Either (1) compile with -s TOTAL_MEMORY=X with X higher than the current value 2040004608, (2) compile with -s ALLOW_MEMORY_GROWTH=1 which allows increasing the size at runtime, or (3) if you want malloc to return NULL (0) instead of this abort, compile with -s ABORTING_MALLOC=0
In case it helps debugging the cloud storage connection error:
Firefox can’t establish a connection to the server at wss://castledark.com/gstor.
Scene 'Login' couldn't be loaded because it has not been added to the build settings or the AssetBundle has not been loaded.
To add a scene to the build settings use the menu File->Build Settings...

Completed this before badges, and the save I have is after defeating the boss in area 21. Kinda don't want to play through this whole thing again just to get the Golden Surprise badge.
No clue why there are people complaining about having to pay for anything, since nothing in this game requires any kind of actual purchase. All prices for in-game items are based on in-game currency, not real-world currency or Kreds.
FaeRahn's build definitely works. Abilities: 1)Max Speed 2)Max Coordination 3)Max Precision 4)Max Body 5)Max Strength 6)Max Stamina - Skills: 1)Max Slash 2)Max Armor 3)Max Passion 4)Max Fortitude 5)Remaining points into Focus (got it to 17) - Powers 1)Max out Potency and Persistance trees. You can generally keep these even. 2)Only take first 2 powers in Dexterity and Mastery. 3)Use remaining power points on Inner Force. Enlightenment will be your last power. - Dual wielding blades (focus on higher strike and parry, though try to get the Initiative penalty down if you can), try to pick armor that minimizes penalties (in the end none of my armor had penalties). Piercing will rock your world (use Power-Attack on lightly armored enemies), especially with Death Blow. The other powers rounds things out nicely, though don't bother using Smash or Concentration. First boss will be a pain, but after him it gets a whole lot easier.
If you hold down C to continuously fire, you'll keep firing in the same direction even if you change directions. To shoot in a different direction, release C, face the direction you want, then hold down again.
Very handy for the last boss, for those of you who've had trouble with it.
