Re: your comment on “The Bravest Hunter”, this is a monetized game that you can spend Kred on, and Kongregate gets a cut off those. Bieng monetized always means there’s an incentive fro Kong to promote it, and it is unfortunately also usually an indication that the game sucks, being little more than a Skinner box.

If its so instant and no form of testing process is done, then why bother suggesting new games stand a chance, if its purely to make mediocre games that likely pay for it noticed for much longer.

Being “the same damn game” is not a reason not to give a game badges, since Flash games are usually shorter than “real” games, so I consider them a longer game served up in installments. That also goes for adventures released in installment, like the ones by Hyptosis that you mentioned.
With the “Papa Louie” games, they don’t really require much thinking, but apparently they do have a fanbase (Papas Pizzeria still has a 4.0 rating after 2.4 million gameplays), so I assume I’m just not in the target audience.
Kongregate being a Web2.0 site, they shouldn’t really have a “testing process”. To work as expected, they ought to promote games that the community has rated highly; obviously badges can only be issued if the dev ties into the Kongregate API. Most of the time that works out; with “The Bravest Hunter” it doesn’t because it now only rates 3.5, though it possibly had more at the time it got badged.
