Game beat at level 55, a bit over 2hrs of gametime. The final fight is a mix of grinding the best gear, and figuring out which enemies to use which abilities on to mitigate damage.
Maybe I despaired too soon, if you beat even the first enemy of the second phase, that does unlock a new tier of gear, and the level-ups are ramping up as well.
The final boss has a second phase where after you bring him down to 0, he revives at full health with and spawns 4 new active enemies in front him. I'm at level 52, and I've got no abilities left by the time I get that far, so I guess I'll just die?
Got stuck on 8 for a few minutes. So for other people having the same issue, remember that you stuck the axe on the skull post to get past the ghost. You can still jump on that axe, it doesn't have to be on a wall.
I keep thinking the walls are the green border, but it's actually halfway into the brown part. Not sure if that's a collision detection error, or a design choice that might be changed.
At the moment, once you've got a fair amount of upgrades, it's super effective to spray bullets in the direction you think enemies might be, and you can hose them down before they even enter your visual range. After I had all upgrades on stage 11, the challenge only exists in clearing an initial safe zone (which is fine), but the mop up is trivial. This might be balanced by either adding a total ammo limit, or restricting bullet range to say, just the edge of the screen.
I saw this game pop up on my Steam queue yesterday. Screenshots show some stuff that doesn't appear in this version, and it's only $0.99 (on sale for $0.89 at time of comment). I didn't pick it up, but thought I'd put this out in case anyone wanted to know.
The awkward controls and bouncy physics make this hard in a frustrating way rather than a challenging one. I had one level where I spent about 10 seconds trying to perfectly align a box and a barrel on the truck because when I backed up after pushing them into place they would bounce slightly out of alignment with the goal destination. Like 2 or 3 pixels off, and it refused to register as complete.
If the controls were tricky because the ball had momentum, that would be acceptable, but it doesn't fell like momentum, the stops are too abrupt. Like other people have said, it's more like lag, where it takes a second and a half for the ball to respond to the input.
I love levels where I spend the first 5 seconds looking for enemies, then when I find them they're already too big/numerous for me to take out any of them and I spend another 20 seconds slowly being crushed to death because I couldn't get any power-ups.
I've managed Gold on the last level 3 times, and every time something bugs out and the level won't finish. Twice it was a triangle that wouldn't fire, but another time I had two weakened squares left and one or two clicks, but the clicks weren't registering.
Sorry for your inconvenience. We'll make some more stages to make sense to play the game. Thanks for your comments Dorcas.
