This is a good game. Well constructed, well polished, and has decent replay value. Especially for 48 hours worth of work. The story is good too, although repetitive. Shrapnel mode is unrealistically hard, and there should be a way to skip all the dialogue at once. But good effort.
This game has far too many flaws regarding balance and polish. Having beta testers would have been a sensible idea, or at least taking player's comments into consideration. This game is all grind and nothing else.
Got into a hunge stalemate in the 7th battle that took close to an hour to resolve. When I finally finished the battle, I had hundreds of thousands of exp!
Some things that would be good to learn before your next game are:
-Loading bars.
-Scrolling backgrounds
-The Kong API
But it's pretty good for a beginner. Did you do the art yourself?
I think it needs some serious balancing. When you're up to the second boss and you've already bought every single upgrade; it leaves you with no where to go. Add more upgrades or fix the prices.
I really anticipated this game because I was a huge fan of the original Death Worm, but this seems so hollow. There's no achievements, the levels are tiny, and it's not the least bit difficult. It feels more like a demo than a complete game...
This game has such a rediculously steep learning curve that I have given up entirely on ever getting the best of 2009 badge. I sure hope this game was meant to be played after completing the original game because even the first level here throws the player straight into the deep end.
I hate to break it to you but I have implemented the kong api. I e-mailed kong and they told me it's a selective process on what games they activate the badges on.
It's a lot better, like a whole new game. There's not much else to polish up except I suggest you double check some of the sound effects, they seem to work sometimes and not others. I'd reccomend having non-linear upgrade costs, that will forc players to make upgrades other than bullet strength/firing rate at the start. The difficulty curve is a lot better though. I love the ships that shoot bullets constantly, that's good for this sort of game. Well done on just your second game. The only other advice I can give you is that for future games, achievements and a storyline make a world of difference, and have more on screen, if the ships were all smaller you'd be able to see more of the map, and it wouldn't be so surprising when you run into an enemy. Thanks for taking my advice too. ;)
This is really fantastic. It has all the brilliance of the prequel but all the originality of a brand new game. It has everything a good shooter should have. 5/5.
thanks, in my head it's original, but pretty sure you can find one or two similar on the inter-tubes.
