The game is very good, but there are some annoying thing.
For example the fact that, when an item drops during a battle, even if it is rare, it is always horribly under your level. So normal items in shops are always better.
And to get a rare item from a battle happens.... rarely.... even if you have invested all your skill points to boost the chance of loot and rare loot. So when they are subpar with you actual equipment, you feel cheated.
Not that the game is impossible to win, but still the "Ooooo, a rare drop" quite soon becomes "Let's hope that it is sometimes I can sell back for good money to buy what is in the shop."
This game reminds me a bit of those great games made by amateurs with RPGMaker years ago. Games like "Three the hard way", "Laxius Power" or the italian "Blue Dragon: il ritorno del male". But, of course this one has better graphic and all those fancy options to customize your main character.
The downside is that this one, even if it "promises" a big and wide world, ends abruptly in the middle of nowhere. But regarding this, the developer has explained very well his reasons.
Anyway for how it is now, the game will not enter in my personal hall of fame, but it is still a good one as long as it is playable, with a great concept behind it. So 4/5 from me.
Ok, after I reached level 95 (and still going) here are some "tricks":
1) for your hero: a good class is hunter; equip him with a high rate and autofiring bowgun, bowmaster will make the arrows hit more times in a row; crippleshot skill will slow the fast ones. Concentrate a lot on fire rate: with a high fire rate your shots will move faster (making it simpler to hit the moving mobs) and you'll get the maximum gain from crippleshots
2) a good squad: 2 militia with gravity guns will do the trick; the third can use what you prefer; set the 3rd to attack air mobs, the gravity guns to do NOT attack air mobs
3) when you reforge a weapon, it's (always? I think so) the last mod that will be deleted; so leave the last slot of your weapons for the less powerful and more frequent mod;
4) Equip the gravity guns with 1 slot for leech, it will help a lot in regenerating your walls
This shooter was made to be the flash companion of a graphical roguelike called "Elona", which is pretty hard itself (even if more casual than other roguelikes). As its roguelike counterpart, this has lots and lots of upgrades, skills, tricks.. and randnomness. And the game is very difficult even in casual mode. I suppose that the idea was to collect medals in the various games and then play another game, and so on. So even the casual mode is not enough "casual". Anyway an interesting game.
This is the same game where the "hero" vents his rage against some vending machines. Now I don't know which one is the original, but I played that one a good year ago, so...
Anyway attacks need some hotkeys... but I guess that if hotkeys are added, we won't click for mistake the box10.com brand. :P
