While it's nice to see a flash shooter with actual bullet hell patterns, I can't help but get the feeling that some of these patterns were designed for a character with a smaller hitbox. Quite a few boss attacks have practically nonexistant margins of error, and I got into quite a few situations against the first boss's first attack in which there was simply no way to avoid damage without using the shield. Also, you really stretch the player's attention span way too much. If it were just between dodging and aiming it'd be fun and interesting, but having four different active abilities- each of which works in a completely different way- is just too much to expect of the average player- especially since their cooldown meters are so out of the way. Bullet Time in particular desperately needs a big, middle-of-the-screen 'time left' gauge. Overall it's a really fun game though! Just suffers from a few nagging design decisions..

A lot of people commented about the lasers. Personally I think they should be reversed- they shrink, and become deadly once they reach a small size. As it is they just seem to become deadly at some arbitrary point that really isn't obvious to the player. Great game nonetheless. My hand is now severely cramped from beating it, and I loved every second.

Severe german inflation ultimately leads to the deployment of nuclear weapons? This seems familiar

As someone who HAS worked with Unity, let me offer some recommendations: -Script some modifications to the movement engine. There's something fundamentally 'sloppy' about just using the built-in scripts. -Use the 'rigidbody' and 'mesh collider' components (both under 'physics') to make imported mesh solid. Under rigidbody, you can check 'is kinematic' and uncheck 'use gravity' to make it just float there without moving -Avoid building levels out of stretched primitives like that. The result is an absolutely horrid UV mapping that makes textures come out stretched and icky no matter what you do. -Test the game in the resolution you plan to publish it as. The HUD system can be pretty finicky- I've yet to get the hang of it myself- so you'll want to tweak it in-house as much as possible. -There's a number of different directions you could take it, but for the love of God, do SOMETHING about that camera. Without the ability to 'lock' the mouse somehow, it's just a pain to manipulate.

FlashBeast: Would you believe I'd planned a minor update to fix that, and was in the midst of uploading it when you saw your comment? ;D Zgnumu: Thanks a ton for actual insightful commentary. Perhaps classifying this as a shmup is a mistake, but it's the genre I was going for, even if I ultimately strayed pretty far from it. At any rate, I'll definitely take that criticism into account should I ever produce something new, but doing those kinds of major changes to this particular game seems a bit much.

There's actually another Asteroids Unity clone on Kongregate, and unfortunately, it's a fair bit better than this one. While you've got the basic gameplay down (It's tough to go wrong when cloning a classic, though the idea that you can die from your own wrapped bullets is neat.) You have basically the exact opposite of polish. The menu is dull (I really wish people wouldn't use the default button styles) and poorly aligned, the player's sprite has an icky white outline, the tiny particle trails look weird with the larger meteors, and in general everything just looks bland. While you at least seem to understand what makes a game (A LOT more than can be said for a lot of Unity games on here) you really need to just sit down and spend more time polishing the game to present it well to the player.

Unfortunately, this is only barely any better than the previous version. The sequence at the beginning seems utterly meaningless. The 'Obstacle Course' is nothing more than a series of moving barriers that do nothing to hinder your progress beyond slow you down slightly (I'd expect them to at least be able to crush you ;/) and the portal maze is entirely luck based- if the player can even figure out the weird blue gradient is supposed to be a portal! I could pick apart the graphics pretty badly too (Using the built-in textures like that just feels unprofessional) but I think it's important that you go back and review just what kind of 'gameplay' you're going for first because, personally, I don't even see how this counts as a 'game.'

Too many names in the dictionary. Unless that is, you expect your average player to be familiar with every notable person who ever lived. ;)
