hover on a block -> left mouse button down and hold -> move your mouse. release mouse button when you done

wow you can cheat the hell out of the numbers lighting up or not... They'll only light up if the boxes are in the right spot and bounded by X's. (as opposed to only lighting up if the rules for that one row are being followed).
