where does tainted erebus come from?

Well thats the last time I plow any money into this game. I just brought a few hundred coins to spend on exhibitions. Got some good equip. Then just started to get the same stuff over and over. If I am spending money I expect something different each time I do (I know I should have read the disclaimer next to it but...)
