My game is not actually smart enough to know if a link is good enough for a solution. It only knows how to determine whether or not a solution is valid.
A lot of the levels have many valid solutions...
Thanks for playing it. The first several levels are not actually very difficult. Its the later levels with wide-open spaces and lots of ways to route links around or through each other that are hard.
I recommend taking a look my tutorial, which describes how the puzzles are structured:

If nothing else, it'll at least cut down on the amount of guesswork.
I am definitely working on improvements, when and where I can. (the most recent release, 1.0.5.0, has a better color scheme and a space-bar shortcut for the map editor). I'm not so sure I like the idea of a keyboard shortcut for resetting levels - it sounds to me like an accident waiting to happen, when I should be taking my time to think over the challenges presented by the level.
I recommend keeping a copy of your maps on your computer, and only share them when you are ready. It was my intent not to make user-generated content accessible to the map editor, though you are more than welcome to share your XML data around.
I'll post some instructions for the map editor in a day or two, after I get some work done on my website.
