Want easy mode? Do your best to grab a green idol or three from the boss battles. After that, it's basically your choice for every press of the button.
You know what? I had no problems with lag at all. I simply don't like this game. Yes, the animations are very nice and I will give credit there. But that's about all I can say I like.
Stick figures? Honestly? If you spent half the time on your art as you did on your animations, the game would still look nicer than half the stuff on Kongregate at both ends. The controls are way too floaty to give me any sense of control beyond "holy crap this guy runs fast." Speaking of fast, that's all fine and good, but half the junk looking all goofy in the background blends in with the foreground. At speed, it is really hard to tell what's an obstacle and what's fluff. On top off all that, those little squiggles you're supposed to collect blend in enough standing still. Forget about them while moving.
Sorry, but 2/5 for the animations alone. Badge of the day done and never coming back.
I gotta say first that I'm a jaded-ass individual. There are a lot of comments about how the writing in this game was something special, so I had a healthy dose of skepticism going in. I will happily admit to being impressed. Although the game generally flirts with countless tropes and cliches of both sci-fi and gaming, it manages to avoid falling prey to them. While the gameplay leaves something to be desired, the writing more than makes up for it. Bravo. 5/5
I like how this is essentially the same game as Free Fred which has been on the front page since last week: Just gritty instead of cutesy. Good to know people are working hard to create unique content. :P
Think frosting is too hard? Here's a little observation that will drastically improve your score: Your frosting gun will NOT go outside the diameter of the cupcake. So when you start, drag all the way to the right, then all the way to the left to complete your first ring. From there, just make sure that your consecutive rings are smaller and you'll get 'great' or 'perfect' scores very frequently!
I really, truly, do not understand what the draw is to this game. At its best, it's attrition. At worst, a long slog. Sorry, but this game is savagely dull. Also, no pause button is a big loser.
Hideous art, awkward controls (no support for cursor movement?!), dull gameplay, and feeble writing. I hated every second of this game. Stupid badge of the day...
Hmm...a nice-looking copy of Advance Wars. Unintuitive interface and lack of manual are a minus. Enemy AI takes a coon's age to finish even simple maneuvers. Silly Halo fanboyism not a plus, either.
Big fan of every game in the series. Although I think this is easier than the Pancakeria, I can appreciate why.
For those of us looking for more of a challenge, a suggestion: Endless mode! Just make the requirements for successful orders keep getting higher and higher. Alternately, to avoid shoehorning in an entire different gameplay mode, how about having the option to work Double Shifts? Have twice as many customers (or more!), and maybe even some special customers that don't appear on a single shift.
Keep up the good work!
This game is tremendous. I'm not a big soccer fan, but something about the mechanics here has me constantly playing. Bravo.
If you're taking suggestions, here are some ideas:
1) Some sort of visibility for power and spin, or at least a mode whereby you can practice to judge the effect of your skill. It's extremely frustrating to miss easy shots because you have no idea how far the ball will go. A similar interface to Steambirds would be great. You'd just pull the arrow to where you want the ball to go and then just focus on kicking it square.
2) Giving credit for shots on goal, or at least not suffering penalties to your grading. Some games you end up getting nothing but really tough shots, yet taking a poor grade at the end because you couldn't complete them.
3) At least a little control over how your team-mates take their shots. Many, many, MANY times have I facepalmed when those dumb-asses put the ball directly into the goalie's hands while fully half the goal was wide open.
This is a fun game with novel mechanics. One suggestion I have is to make the collision points between your characters and objects (characters and scenery) clear. Perhaps have the color of the movement marker change when you're going to hit something? I say this mostly because I have blown many, many turns thinking I would clear a rock or tree and instead carom off in a random direction. Many foul words are produced by this occurrence. ;)
The core mechanic is fine, but nothing new in any way. The upgrade/shop mechanic has no discernible effect on gameplay whatsoever, nor do any of the different characters. Moreover, there seems to be a glitch wherein a match of 5 or 6 only produces a level 2 unit. The AI provides a negligible challenge throughout. Sorry, but 2 out of 5 here.
Wow, I don't think I've ever hated a game this much. It should be called Falling Off Ledges. "Thanks" for making this the badge of the day and subjecting me to such pabulum so I can get my achievement fix. :P
RoF was the first - check out the release date please.
