Elder Math…a strange name? It’s based upon the Welsh mythical figure Mathiu un Mathonwy. I took on the name young actually despite the ‘Elder’ part(entered to assume ‘wise’ although I don’t clame to be.)when I first read the Prydain Chronicles(The series that contains ‘The Black Cauldron’) which is based on Welsh myth.
