Unite the descriptions of simular buffs. Examples."Hard to kill" played twice.Buff - "Hard to kill"(2)+2 to melee attacks...etc. Card №1 with effect +2 to next ranged played, then card №2 with effect +3 to next ranged played. Buff - "Name card №1"," Name card №2" - +5 to next ranged.It really helps the players.
Battles will be on tactical grid map.
Some battles may have limited turns to win or to reach location - 100 slow ships won't overhelm.
(Plot - force shield on the planet will be reactiveted in 10 turns).
I prefer auto-controll - player set formation and maybe controll quest ship.
Buttom "auto-formation" may be added.
One free battle for day, next need recharge for energy.
Ships'll have HP - hp losses reduce attack; range, speed. On quest crew ships hp losses reduce number of quest crew. Ships auto-fire at range (streaming effect). So ship with 100 attack can destroy 100 hp of enemy fleet for turn.

I think LoTS needs not mini game but just another part of the game. You have good set of ships why not to add fleet missions - fleet vs fleet. Player may come with all his ships.
Some of such missions will be general - accessible at any time(fleet strength or prev mission requed - several first mission accessible right away).
Another - special - escort troop transport to the location - need troop transport(for access to the mission) with enough crew strength (for win), escort medic ship - need medic ship.
