Jun 22, 2012 10:10am Have you ever considered using Stencyl? I’ve never used Construct, but it might be similar in some ways.

Construct (For .exe files) and Construct 2 (For online HTML5 files). I’m not 100% sure on the difference between Stencyl and C2, although I think C2 was deliberately developed with HTML5 in mind and its growing popularity. At the moment C2 is still being developed (At least one new update a week). Although my knowledge on Stencyl is limited I believe C2 may be more sophisticated in what it does, allowing for a greater range of projects. And a very shallow learning curve. But I have never used Stencyl. What do you find best about Stencyl? show less

It can get messy with events, but it’s not too bad. It’s designed with Flash targeting in mind, and paid iOS and exe exporter. I’d recommend that you try it. show less

Once made, you need to host your game (I use my own website). Kongregate will then allow you to embed your game via an Iframe into their site. Whereby you are able then to recieve ad revenue. Construct 2 has a ‘Kongregate format’ exporter, and a ‘Kongregate’ Object. Which enable to you use the API to record high scores. However at the moment you are unable to use the kred’s buying facility for ingame game element purchases unless you do some extra coding. show less

The hosting itself sounds like too much work, since I don’t have a server of my own nor my own website.

May 12, 2012 4:15pm Wow no one has ever listened to my opinion, thanks for opting to take my advice! Also, you might want to remove the negative score unless that is part of the game. Also, you might want to remove the negative score unless that is part of the game. It might infuriate the player to know that they suck so bad, they don’t even deserve 0 points. It angered me slightly but I worked past it. Your game has potential and you should work to make it more user friendly though maybe alter a game mechanic or two. Especially if there were upgrades, achievements, and different stages or objectives. Maybe even an in-game shop. Too maximize profit, you might even want to add exclusive items and or perks to people willing to pay some kreds. But remember, don’t make people pay for levels, don’t make it so that the players have to pay too much, and only ask for kreds in moderation. Again, I’m a large fan of this next clause. You are not inclined to listen to me as you are the developer. show less

Which I plan to take on board when I update the game. I like your other suggestions also, they match up well with what I was planning on doing. I’ll be re-programming the main shooting gallery and hopefully adding a small story line (involving a sinister squirrel stealing fruit). Thank you for giving advice, I feel all feedback is important. show less |
