I enjoyed the game, but the hacking is absolutely terrible. In order to get your weapons back you have a 41 second mash! Is that really a positive addition to the game?
I liked the shooting, but the rng for searches is really frustrating. It isn't good game design if I can do the skill parts perfectly and still get completely screwed.
True story: after obtaining the hard badge and deciding to continue on for a little longer, my game bugged out while fighting the 15th floor boss, requiring a browser reset.
I got the achievements and I'm out. It's kind of pity because there are actually some decent mechanics here but they're buried under clunky AI and pay to win.
It's a neat concept and pretty well executed, but some margin of error would have been nice on the challenge level, either in the form of a little time between when the red line hits you and when you die or some form of checkpoint.
I'm also not sure what to make of the auto aim. Since the game is a shooter, having a feature that automates all the shooting seems like a decision that removes most of the gameplay, but the game almost requires its use. You can beat the main levels easily enough without it, but the higher stages in survival are much more difficult without the computer aiming for you. It makes sense that the computer can do a better job than I can: the computer fires as soon as it sees a target, it never wastes ammo, and it can adjust to a new target instantly, but on the other hand, if I'm not here to shoot in this shooter, what am I here for?
I wanted to like it; I really did. The tags made me think it would be up my alley, and glancing at the top comments made me quite hopeful. However, I just could not enjoy the game. It consists of 11 levels that are virtually identical, each of which consists of 4 identical stages and a final "boss" stage that is the same every time (a single enemy spawner and more of the same mobs.) There are a grand total of three types of enemies to spice up the journey (not counting the spawner.) The player character feels slow, no matter how much you upgrade the movement speed, and even with the vision upgraded to max you still have a fairly major portion of the screen obscured by fog of war. The difficulty is also really strange. For the most part the game is quite easy, but it's never forgiving, which in practice means that you will rarely find yourself in danger, but when you do, a single mistake will quite often mean your death.
It's a nice game. If I could make some suggestions, the first would be that the difficulty curve seems to be a little messed up. I found starting out to be the most difficult part of the game. Once you get some good gear and a few levels, the game becomes incredibly easily until Act 2 impossible missions, and even then the challenge was small.
Going off of that, individual fights become rather lengthy, and if enemies don't really pose a threat, this is a recipe for disengagement. Eventually I started multitasking while playing, ordering my character to fight an enemy and then reading a book while the fight played out. A major part of this is that as a mage, I never found much reason to use my abilities in battle. Since mana was too limited to just spam magic missile, I found that the best route was to use magic armor before every fight and save my damage spells for annoyingly placed necromancers. It was effective, but it meant that there was nothing to do while each fight played out.
There aren't many games that I've played and rated where I haven't earned even the easy badge. I enjoy tower defense games, but this one is just terrible. It's tedious, it looks ugly, the upgrade system was poorly designed, and there's very little strategy involved.
What's with the matchmaking system? I started playing yesterday, and tried my first multiplayer match today for the daily reward. I was matched against a player who had a fully upgraded deck. Thinking it might be a fluke, I tried again and got the exact same result. It seems that in a game where multiplayer is a major feature, matching players to opponents at the same level would be important.
I dont see why people think that ninjas are overpowered. Compared to reality they are actually underpowered. At least here you can see them before they kill you.
