One way to get a high score is to use "+Prestige" and "+Loot Rarity" modifiers on your gear. The "+Prestige" increases Prestige from any source - put your best Prestige gear on if you are exploring or building. The "Loot Rarity" modifer is extremely underrated - you can use it to get the Blade of Pure Luck (which is +100% to gold and resources, +80% to Piety and Prestige, +25% to Loot Rarity) as early as Stronghold II - essentially a 2x multiplier to your endgame gold and resources.

Tip for level 8:
Get 50 fatty acids, 1250 amino acids, 2500 ATP. Then instantly toxic the monster by pressing the button 50 times. This allowed me to beat the level in 312 seconds.
This is how to annihilate your foes:
Throwing Weapon 2nd special skill + Greek Fire
This throws 3 Greek Fire projectiles at once, super quickly! Pure devastation ...
And if you don't get Blade of Pure Serenity, Blade of Pure Rage, or Red Lifesaber before Root of All Evil, prepare for a 40 minute grindfest and dozens of potions ...
This game is so luck-based ... you spend the first 50 weeks resting at home and sweeping streets until you get 500 exploration. Then the next 30 weeks are spent praying that the Explore button will give you villagers, else it's better to restart. :(
Also, Forest Retreat and Coastal Getaway are the best rest spots, as they train useful skills and help you lose stress. I looked through every one of the rest spots and these two trump the rest easily.
You only need Bravery, Melee Skill, Armour Use, Magic Resist, Exploration, Scavenging, First Aid, and maybe learning. The other skills are not cost-efficient to train or useless, though the more you inflate your stats the better your score.
