Dogs are underpowered and cats are too OP now that the front porch is larger than the dog shrine entrance for blocking and the tree is off limits to dogs; please balance in the next patch! (PS: Dog and Benn were here)
Excellent game, excellent series, 5/5. Also, a slight bug with the 15x combo, in that if you have the bananarang (to bounce off the walls), you can get the achievement on the nanoswarm so long as you stand above it's lair and bounce your shots in (it counts toward your combo as long as the boss's name does not appear).
This is pretty cool, but at the same time, there isn't much variation that can be performed. What would be awesome is if you could allow for the importing of custom graphics and sounds. This would very greatly increase the quality of some projects, and would most likely make it more enjoyable overall. 4/5 for now however because there is quite a bit of stuff you can do with this engine.
Although you did a unique thing by taking Amorphous's awards system and adapting it to a shooter, which is greatly made, the problem comes in that it gets boring too fast. The awards are bland and unintuitive (maybe have some more unique goals than just kill this, kill this many, survive this long, etc.). Another thing I would highly suggest to make things more interesting is reducing the enemy point values, and putting in a combo system instead. It would add more variety to the gameplay as players try to plan big combos. Finally, I would suggest making suvival mode a little more hectic: take out health gaining powerups and throw people into all types of cells at once and take out the level up meter. This would make survival mode more about surviving than playing an unlimited legion.
"1. The ball rides on top of the line, it's supposed to travel through it if it's past vertical as that would no longer be riding on top of it."-Gaz That means that if your line is just a smidge past vertical in the wrong direction, your ball can travel through it. Make sure that your U is made where the bottom is going to be able to hold the ball, not a quick line that looks like it will stop it. If that is too hard, i found making a loop around the ball will usually hold it if it isnt going too fast.
Found a bug: When doing the Blademasters quest to kill the Channelers (Magicians), completion of the quest gives negative faction points to the Trackers, not the Magicians.
The thing is, most people posting these cheating/rigged comments are the people who just want to get the badges and get out of the game forever. Why not leave this game for when you actually FEEL like playing, rather than just wanting to get 3 more digital icons for your digital profile? Achievements/badges are supposed to be something to have fun earning WHILE having fun playing the game, otherwise your basically treating everything like a grind.
Also, if you hate how the computer is getting big rolls, play on harder difficulties. Cautious banks more often than Reckless, meaning that it also takes less points per round (unless it is BEHIND, in which it will risk more to catch up :P). Realist is even easier, because it adjusts its strategy constantly like a human, such as not risking much when ahead, or risking more when behind. Reckless is only ranked Easy because it is the easiest to predict what it is going to do (roll for high points, risk getting lots of zilches doing so).
@ ilikecheese86: But if you handicap it in one direction, you have to handicap it the other way, which means that if a player just scored a 5000 point roll, the computer would immediately get a good roll and cancel it out to make it close again. Do you really want a handicap system like that, or do you really just want a 1 way handicap so that you can win every time or lose by a close amount?
Also, to those who say that the A.I. always gets lots of points in one turn, why not take a look at playing against a Cautious A.I. instead of a Reckless A.I.? Cautious usually banks the moment it hits the minimum amount (unless there is a free roll opportunity), while a Cautious A.I. will usually keep going until it hits around 650 points or more, thus getting all sorts of free rolls because of how reckless it gets.
I'm going to compare Zilch and people's "GAME IS RIGGED" opinions to Mario Kart(yes, Zilch includes more luck, but bear with me :P). In Mario Kart, the A.I. is handicapped depending on how well (or poor) you are doing. If you are winning, they get very cheap; if you are losing, they get very bad at racing all of a sudden. This is what people think of when they say the game is rigged. However, Zilch is much more like taking that handicap out of the game. What is left is the skill of the A.I. (being they know the path/they have a strategy on how to play) and your luck with gaining the right objects at the right times. Sometimes you will get ripped off without handicaps, but would you guys really want always close games because of how the computer will change how good it gets when you play, or would you rather have a game where you could get really lucky when way ahead, but also really poor luck when you are behind?
Yes, at times it seems like the game is rigged, but a good thing to notice is that A) if the computer is getting good rolls alot, but you aren't, rework your strategy, like in all luck based games, to get the best outcome you can. B) you can get the same luck streaks. When I was purposely trying to lose, i ended up getting five 1500 point free rolls in a row, followed by a 2000 point gathering on the last roll before bank, which shot me up to 9500 points when it was just my second roll. If the computer were real, they would certainly be shouting "That game was rigged!".
To all those saying the game is rigged: Go play Yahtzee with your family. When they manage to get 2 Yahtzees in a row while you are getting nothing, do you shout out "THIS GAME IS RIGGED!" and quit playing? If so, I feel sorry for you. If not, but you still call this game rigged, get ome common sense.
