Level 1 and out of 5 runs I've had to manually quit the level 3 times, meaning I gained nothing for those. Why the hell won't the run end when I'm out of fuel and there aren't even any zombies around?
1 star for broken crap
Sure a passing knowledge of mythology might not include the fact that Athena is indeed the goddess of war, but it takes about 2 seconds to wiki that she is.
Was going to give it 3/5 since it's at least somewhat polished, but the manual collection of coins and boosts brought it down. Then I clicked the "More Games" button in the shop for the... 5th? 6th? time. That button placement alone is worth taking 1 or 2 stars off the rating.
Having to walk over coins to pick them up is forgivable, provided there's some sort of magnet function/upgrade to make it hot so horrendous. Having to walk over them without a magnet AND them disappearing after a few seconds is just bad.
The constant clicking is also no good. Even click + hold to keep swinging is fine if you don't want to allow attack to be mapped to a key.
As it is the game isn't so hot
If you're gonna have all these enemies based solely on being annoying, how about fixing whatever the hell it is that makes it impossible to click on stuff for about 5 seconds after releasing/turning off the speed up.
Two suggestions, one simple, the other not so much.
How about shift + click adds a stack of whatever to the recycler so I don't have to hit the confirm box every time? I'd suggest shift + click just recycle it or at least bring up the prompt, but then I'd never use the recycler at all.
The second is how about a tower defense mode? Increasingly strong waves of zombies attack my base and I see how well my guys hold up. Make some sort of Dune type thumper building and (let's face it, if you want an idea for a game like this implemented, add a real cost) make it cost 5 fuel to start the thing up. That way even someone who isn't hardcore about the game can still try it with the fuel gained from missions.
Rarely do I give a game 1 star, but this one went out of its way to earn that crappy rating. I could even forgive all the p2w stuff if it didn't include the option to just straight up BUY LEVELS. WTF kind of douchebag option is that? Are the creators retarded?
Needs more Darkdog and survival mode. I'd even be willing to spend another dollar to get those (and possibly put in the time to unlock 3rd ring/amulet slot from gems from survival lol 1k gems) on kongregate.
This could be a tutorial on "How to screw up a game with tons of potential with one utterly stupid mechanic." It most likely took more work to make the stupid coin collecting system than to just let them go straight into the bank, which begs the question, "why the hell bother?" It adds nothing to the game, and in fact detracts from it terribly, so again, "why the hell bother?" Usually I'm just tearing my hair out because obviously polished, well made games leave important stuff out (wtf is with a single set of controls? not everyone uses the arrow keys), but this went the opposite direction and added something totally unnecessary to make a game with a lot of potential barely worth playing. Good job.
Great game. I especially enjoy how the "combat" is surprisingly deep.
Beat it twice, two tries vs octopus each time.
My advice to anyone struggling: play more defensively.
The computer has a priority to the matches it takes, with attack/special attack if available, followed by rage, energy, counter, defense and healing (pretty sure that's the order).
If it's under ~30% hp the priority changes and it'll take healing first a lot.
Use that information to plan your moves instead of just taking attacks whenever you can.
If you see two attack matches available, take a defense match (or counter), since the computer will automatically take the attack. That leaves you ahead when you take the other attack the next turn (by taking no dmg or having the computer take double with counter).
Avoid using turns on healing matches if you can, since they're only 21hp on a 3match and 28hp on a 4match, which is practically nothing in the last couple fights.
Please switch to "toggle" mode for fast speed - pause the game and you'll see the check button.
