Till about ten days ago the problem was the expired certificate, afterwards, if it had been a DNS problem it would have been solved in a few days, so it is likely that browser access is disabled. At the moment the only way to play is to link the kong account to the mobile version.
you can always try their support: https://cloudcade.helpshift.com/a/shop-heroes/?contact=1 meanwhile the better option is to use the mobile version and link the kong account
When the certificate expired in march they took a week to renew it.
Three weeks ago, after the servers where down for 2 weeks, they restored the game with the old expired certificate (very smart!).
A week ago they wiped all the data: no more toons, no more cities and everyone had to start over then they restored a month older backup.
At the rate and in the way they fix stuffs breaking something else I'm not optmistic to have the game totally funtionally anytime soon.
Take also into count that on Steam the game was removed some weeks ago but you can still play from that platform if you have it in your library.
for that reason I said to duplicate the browser icon and use it only for this game (rephrased: do not use elsewhere!). however the mobile version is an app that can be downloaded from google play and has never needed ssl certificates and linking the account to kong is perhaps even easier to do.
Another way is access the hero from the mobile version. When you install the game on your phone (but also work with MEmu) click the gear on the top right then under the account tab select Kongregate then log.
The game is running, the expired certificate is an issue only for the web version. For Chrome or Opera duplicate the icon and add "--allow-running-insecure-content --ignore-certificate-errors" to command line. But use the new icon ONLY for this game. Maybe I've explained better in this old thread for another game link.
The alternative for Chrome / Opera browser is to duplicate the icon and add to command line those 2 options (use that icon only for this game not for usual browsing, is risky!): --allow-running-insecure-content --ignore-certificate-errors
You need to force DNS resolution.
For windows users, add this 2 lines to your files hosts (C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts):
104.197.86.226 shopheroes.cloudcade.com
107.178.243.142 shopheroes-cdn.cloudcade.com
Require admin privileges and don't forget to remove both line when Cloudcade fix it.
Their SSL certificate expired, quick temporary fix till they renew it: Right click on server name, open in new tab, in the url, replace https:// with http:// (just remove the s)
