Also, biggest bug - cooldowns continue to move even when the game is paused. So, spam archers - press pause - spam archers - press pause, and that way you get nicely grouped mobs.
I can never get these games to run on kongregate, and I'm not going to disable all of my defensive software to make them work. Sorry nitrome, 1/5 for being special snowflakes.
Nitrome games never work for me; it's always a white screen of error loading. I assume it has something to do with adblock and noscript, but I refuse to enable those to play these games.
I bought one of the most expensive energy drinks right off, but I don't seem to be able to use it anywhere except at the main screen - but if I buy one of the cheap ones, I can use it in game. Wot?
Sticky keys make this game pretty much impossible for me. Occasionally, on all of the levels I've played so far, a key will get stuck down and need to be tapped to be cleared. Never happened on any other flash game.
I figured out why this game is boring. It's because the "resource" - the power overload - is completely uncontrolled by the player. It doesn't matter how well you play, or how early you clear a wave - you receive your huge power surge 'magically'. This leads the player to be somewhat detached over the course of a level. Score only matters when you have strong motivations attached to it - high score boards, rewards for different point levels, etc.
Engine and concept are solid. Gameplay needs powerups, more ship variety, smarter bosses with less dead zones (places where they never shoot), and more challenge. 3/5.
One star for failing to save, failing to load, and failing to tell me that it's done neither more than insinuating other chapters wouldn't see my savegame.
