Love the mechanics in this game! The ways you use the weapons is brilliant. Love it. There are a few problems though:
- The frame rate when you kill the boss is ridiculous. Spawn fewer crystals with higher value.
- The level often ends before I've picked up all the crystals after a boss kill. Makes me feel cheated.
- Some times I die after having killed a boss. Feels very anti-climactic and un-fair. Consider making the player invulnerable or make all remaining enemies die when you kill the boss.
There's a non-progression bug on level 20. If you attack Flywalker from the right instead of from the left, he gets grouped with a Clone, which is to his right and therefore never gets killed. The battle just goes on forever.
Is the friendly fire really necessary? It makes it really annoying when I'm trying to shoot a coin or help a hostage when I accidentally shoot my own guys...
Some feedback / communication issues: Some missiles can be shot. Others can't. Your own missiles should look more different from the enemies' missiles. The medical chopper should look more distinct to make it clear it's not a threat. Player ship needs more feedback to show when it's being hit.
Otherwise, decent game.
Please redesign the menus, especially for upgrading. Don't show me everything I can possibly do, ever. Just show me what I can currently upgrade. Searching through several pages of menus just to see if what I recently picked up gives me any new options isn't fun.
Interesting choices are fun. Sifting through pages of unavailable options isn't.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but when you calculate the scores, you base the enemy kill ration on the number of enemies spawned, not the total number of enemies in the level? So if the player fails the level at an early wave, but manages to kill a high percentage of enemies up to that point they get a really good score? Seems like an exploit...
Pretty decent game. A little bit easy, perhaps, but the basic gameplay is good. I've come across some audio problems though. Some weapons and other effect sources simply stop making a sound. Toggling all audio (n) on and off fixes it. Still not sure why it's happening in the first place though.
Thanks.
