Re: Comment about the sequel. The developer's Twitter account has new posts every week or so. I have no idea when the sequel is actually coming out, but he's still actively working on it :)
I'm a bit confused about the active skill aspect of the game. As my active skill level goes up, I can move on to manually click on higher level games, which in turn allows me to gain xp, increase my active skill and repeat. But I can't tell: Is this actually doing anything to increase my fanbase or video views? It kind of seems like the fanbase simply grows over time, though perhaps faster with the 'upgrade videos' option.
Utter rubbish fighting in this game. The other families apparently have UNLIMITED mobsters, while you can only get 1 per property each day.
How is it that I attack the final property of an enemy family, kill 5, and lose 30 - even though I have the best weapon (Tommy gun)? And somehow, on the same day, they manage to take over one of my properties with 40+ defenders? And.. repeat, until I run out of of mobsters.
Sorry, but hitting "Next Day" 100 times until I build up enough mobsters to take out an enemy family in one day is.. not fun.
I have half a billion dollars, but can still recruit only one mobster per location each day...
Neat game, but it's overly easy if you just go the buy-out the enemy route, and probably overly difficult if you try to fight them. If you mess up and lose too many mobsters.. you're basically done for, because you can't replenish them fast enough.
For a sequel, I'd like to see it become a bit more like Risk; as it is, there's very little combat strategy.
I'd like to be able to save my coins when I lose a round.. as it is now, I pretty much just end up being stuck and unable to progress after a certain point.
Seems like it could be fun. But.. there's no way to heal my wounded men in between battles, I take it? Which means.. before long I get them all killed and don't have enough money to buy more. I can try grinding some cash using just reinforcements - but since there is no way to go back to the previous level, this will take so long that I just give up.
I started up the game, clicked a "kill zombies" button about a dozen times, and... suddenly it's "Now wait five minutes.. OR BUY CREDITS!!!" Jeez, even the crummy FB games are better than this.
Lots of fun. But: The Minigun is basically so inaccurate that it's useless.. the OICW gun that you get much earlier seems significantly better. Also, the "Kill 25 enemies with a knife and don't die even once" challenge level passes the limit of tough-but-fun and goes into this-is-really-stupid territory...
Making "Like Berzerk on FB" one of the missions made me drop my score to two stars. If you want to add that s--- in as a bonus, fine - but it shouldn't be one of the missions you have to complete to unlock upgrades.
I like it - but it would be much better without the minimum-skulls to upgrade system. When you restrict upgrades by level.. there's really no point; you might as well just make them automatic.
What we have here is a fundamental misunderstanding of the entire Upgrade System in casual games. You see, no matter how bad I am at playing, I should never find myself stuck on a level I cannot pass with no hope of grinding up to better equipment to easily blast on through. So when the "upgrades" are LOCKED such that the very best equipment I can get at any point is barely enough to move ahead (or worse - I have the best stuff but can't manage to pass a level)... well, that's bad game design. Now, you can make the pricing of equipment scale up at a considerable rate so that a player has to replay lower levels many times in order to get it so that the game is not too easy. But in casual game, a player should really never find himself stuck after retrying a level 5x or more.
Actually.. ignore that last comment. I guess this is the 3rd Potty Racers - though there's a newer 4.3 version with more upgrades. It's also been out for at least a year, which explains why it seems so familiar. And, strangely enough, Potty Racers II has a more polished upgrade interface, making this one seem older. Too many versions posted across too many different sites...
1 star. Graphics and everything are okay, but this is just another clone of those Facebook mafia type games. Which is to say, not exactly a game at all.. no real interactivity, just button clicking, waiting, getting harassed to buy things for actual cash. Hey, I don't mind buying premium game stuff - if it's for an actual interactive game where I get to do something fun with it. Not just.. seeing different numbers when I click the buttons. Lame.
Your fanbase grows with your active skill level + your videos.
