Mute and fastening up the chat with NPC-s would be nice...

The light around the numbers should go white, whenever you find a possible solution for the row. As it is, it is possible, to find the good one by purely trial and error, as the numbers will tell you when it's good. (Sorry, my first language isn't English, I hope you got what I tried to explain.)
