Kinda "easy" way to get the Hard Badge:
Start at day ONE buying:
Transmission: 4wd Sport - 3k; Engines: 120 Hp - 2,5k; Wheels: 37" - 500; And 760 on Fuel (all you can). Try to get at LEAST 720 ft.
Then on day TWO:
Full GAS - 800; Weapon - 2300 Plus 3200 on bullets. Try to get at LEAST 880~910 ft.
Then day THREE:
Boost - 1500 Plus 10k on its Fuel; One more time bullets - forgot the price.
Then do your stuff, and on the VERY LAST uphill, boost all away. You will end up flying over the boxes and getting more than 1000ft!
Tips: If you think you wont smash through the zombies, get OVER them, otherwise they will slow you down. AND do not acelerato too much when flying... It wastes some precious fuel!

Just improving klimtom's "Walkthrough":
Do "everything" as said, "nightmare" difficulty, no collision "nor" demons "nor" friendly fire, but instead of "Boxy" map, choose "Big Boxy"! Kill "almost" all the first wave, close one way, and then "destroy" the other one with the "Rocket Launcher"!
Why "Big Boxy"? Because there is more "room" for the zombies to come, and that way you get to wave 42 "WAY" faster. Just make sure to not let the zombies "walk" to much.
