I think it also means that the person who obeys will receive a reward (the coin) but will have a hard, tedious life ahead of them (when you finish with all obeying you see a steep hill ahead of you when you're done), however, the person who chooses to live free might not get a reward, but will live a happy, colourful life. at least thats what i think :S
