For those confused by the intro, it seems likely that this was based off of an actual phenomenon known as 'sleep paralysis', causing a person to be aware of their surroundings but unable to move. It also frequently causes hallucinations: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleep_paralysis
i think that the shadow clone of yourself was trying to kill you all along so that he could be free. think about it. when you kill him, you become free. so maybe he was giving you the wrong controls and trying to make you touch the gems so you would die/not have a chance to kill him? idk
I don't know if anyone is curious or not about this, but here is how you get to the shrine of isis. Go to the main area of snail town and go on the wall on the left. From there, go down until you get into another room with a heart piece thing. Then go to the bottom right corner in that room and shoot rainbow waves downward. Then just follow the path until you get to a pink door. Go through that door. You should now be in a hallway with two pink doors on either side. go to the ceiling of it and shoot up. If you have gravity snail you will fly right up into the shrine of isis. + if this helped
