A sign of a good puzzle game is when you generate entirely new problems by solving your original one. This game is filled with those moments. I sat for a good while fiddling with various configurations, and level 30 alone took a solid 10 minutes.
So I think I have found a bit of a bug. I produce food at a rate of about 667, 000 units per update, and there is about a 550,000 unit demand, so my stock be growing at a rate of about 117000 unit per update. Yet it only goes up in increments of 117, making it nigh impossible to save food. While this may be chalked up to a "rotting" mechanic, I have not seen anything about said mechanic in the game. If this is the case, a "rate of decay" stat would be very helpful.
There is a small bug, it works like this: max food = food you see + consumption. Because of how game is written it shows a bit wrong value. I will try to fix it asap. (It does not affect game play)
