I get the references; I just think this game makes you look like the asshole you are. The attempted satire doesn't even make sense -- there really *aren't* any games pretty much at all where the main character is (or *can* be) ethnically Indian, for instance. Why don't you just stop harassing the indie developers that *are* making games, so they can go back to doing that instead of dealing with this shit.

Only one complaint -- it's so tiny! I feel like I'm shoving my nose against my screen to read the text!

Excellent game. Absolutely needs a sequel, expansion pack, skirmish mode, or player-created map set, but I won't withhold the fifth star just for being too short. Instead, I'm giving full credit and asking for more!

Don't think I don't know Pachelbel's Canon when I hear it. I'm onto you. >.> Anyway, I can't quite justify four stars, but I am enjoying the game. I'll echo everyone else who is waiting eagerly to see how you expand the game in the future, because you are definitely onto something, and this is a very promising franchise, as it were.

Out of respect for the issue of stolen games, I will be playing on the developer's own site (http://samdangames.blogspot.com/p/play-ptd_03.html) until the matter is settled on Kongregate. You can Google "Pokemon Tower Defense" to find it if you don't trust random links. Also, to the real developer, you should consider bringing the game to Kongregate legitimately! We always love new, quality developers!

Echoing the dislike for the level cap. If the level is infinite (which it appears to be), then what's the harm in letting us build up super ships of death? Don't prevent us from fully enjoying your excellent game -- I promise you, if you take off the level cap, Outer Spatial's score will jump 3/4 of a star within an hour! (But you better move fast, before it gets locked in and the rest of us get bored and don't come back to check!)

Great fun, but I had one *big* UI issue: I consistently hit the "start level" button when I wanted to swap out mercs. Normally, this would be a minor inconvenience, but I apparently only have three lives before...something happens. I don't know what that is, but I've already started four levels on accident and lost two of them.

Oh dear -- no rebinding keys or automatic relabelling for those of us using Dvorak (or AZERTY, or whatever). I don't fault you for it, but it's nice when we don't have to switch back to QWERTY to play our flash games.

Ok, I haven't even started playing, but you've already earned 3 stars for letting me use [Ctrl + Backspace] to delete entire words in the "callsign" box. This is exactly the kind of attention to detail and interface standards I like to see from developers!

Ok, so my first question is: What does the Special-Unit armor do? It's not described in the tech tree, and there's no upgrade button to mouse-over. Is it more armor? More damage? Both? Neither?

4/5, ONLY because an automatic reinforcement command is all but VITAL to this sort of game. This would also go a long way toward overcoming the AI's ability to play without handling the interface.

Regarding keyboard layouts: I'll second the issue of "speed" being problematic for non-QWERTY users. For instance, I use Dvorak, so I must choose between switching back to an unfamiliar layout or having the positioning on the screen be completely different from the actual position on the keyboard. Other than that, good game with solid presentation.

Regarding items, if you want to go the route of unit advancement being manual and piecemeal, you should start investigating ways to reduce the load on the player when they manage items. Possible solutions could include player-defined "templates" that can be applied to a unit, causing them to automatically purchase the desired items when they are available, or settings to optimize for a specific trait (armor-piercing percentage, splash damage, raw damage, etc.). Note that these item management ideas are *not* for this particular game, but rather for future games with similar mechanics, in which the types and effects of items would be designed to fit with the chosen approach.

Ok, so my thoughts on the mechanics you're testing out: In general, I like everything new from the Protectors series, but the execution needs to be cleaned up. The "bigger isn't always better" vibe is nice, and will hopefully serve to keep the Protector series from growing opaque and bloated in its scale and mechanics (see: Final Fantasy). I like the idea of harvesting, but (as others have said) it should be completely automatic. This way, it's a positioning problem, not a micromanagement problem.
