Finally got it! The trick was only one Rangers Hideout in the lower left eventually upgraded with max Wrath of the Forest. All the rest of the money should go into Sorceror Mages with rank 1 Rock Elementals (always get the elemental before moving on to your next mage tower). Make intelligent use of your spells and it CAN be done.
Anyone have any advice on beating the last level's iron challenge? I've been trying to hold them back with Rock Elementals and Wrath of the Forest, but no matter what I do some eventually leak through after about 5 minutes. Even tried barracks at the end of my line but couldn't get my soldiers to survive the demons.
Just to clarify - you don't have to follow on Facebook or Twitter to get the last 2 stars. You simply need to click the links from the drop-down panel at the top to obtain them.
This game is fine, but it is NOT a puzzle game. A pure puzzle game is a matter of logic - once you've worked out the logic you've solved the level. Hybrid puzzle games often add an execution component, most commonly a platforming element. This game is entirely bereft of any use of logic. It is trial and error, timing, and execution that results in level completion.
Is it a glitch that when the last enemy in wave dies to burn damage, the next wave comes out attacking? It's certainly extremely obnoxious and counter-intuitive. That said, the game is just amazing.
In my opinion the game would be a lot more fun if it were a puzzle game with platformer elements rather than a platformer game with puzzle elements. The challenge always came from the execution of a plan rather than the development of a plan.
I find it very curious that the more you upgrade the slower your income growth becomes. Oh sure you get a ton of money in one day, but you lose an insane amount to pay your employees. This bizarre system forced me to start each day in the red (well, that or wait an hour for cash to amass). So when I finally got hit with no income growth it was an automatic game over.
It is so sad when developers ruin otherwise good games with horrible design choices, especially ones so easily fixed.
AHHHHHHH!! Beat the game with one ending, went to try and replay the ending and hit "play again" or something. Now my saved progress is gone?! Is there any way I can do the ending again without playing the whole game over?
I was actually finding the difficulty of the Alien Campaign to be manageable and enjoyable... until rocket race that is. Can someone explain to me why the "special, extra powerful" rocket launcher we get is WAAAAY worse than the default? With this lousy excuse for a weapon my allies tend to go ~2 kills and 20 deaths...
There is one major flaw that absolutely ruins this game on the hard difficulty. This is the fact that your characters don't heal to full upon starting a new chapter. Take note developers: if you ever put a player in a position where his only recourse (after an hour or two of gameplay) is to restart the entire game, you've done something horribly HORRIBLY wrong.
So it took me 5 attempts to beat mission 1 in 6 turns (using the one and only possible strategy), but I beat mission 2 in 18 turns first attempt... without even trying for it! Go figure lol
I played through the whole game not paying attention to the scores it gave me and had only about 35k points by the time I finished all the levels (and I got all the stars). I was under the assumption that I would be awarded the most points for completing levels in a minimum of moves, as it takes more skill to use less moves. I appear to have been extremely off base... kind of a silly scoring system this game uses.
WHY IS THERE NO AUTO-SAVE?! And don't give me this retry crap... I assumed this meant retry the battle, when I wanted to go to the town screen. Why do developers always miss the obvious stuff that ruins otherwise good games...
The actual game is just incredible. The level of difficulty is spot on, and it's the most fun I've with a puzzle game in a long while. That said, it is really held back by technical issues. Halfway through I took a break and came back... to see that my save file had been reset. When I finally beat the last level the hard badge didn't award. Thanks to the ability to skip levels, I may not even be able to get it by submitting a report. Very frustrating.
@cheezeymoochacha: the amount of leech is the maximum amount of health that can be absorbed. If pierce increases the damage dealt it adds to the amount leeched so long as it is below the maximum. For example, if Havoc (3 attack, 2 pierce, 3 leech) attacks an enemy with 2 armor it will deal 3 damage and leech 3 health.
The reverse tower defense is a cool mechanic, but the game is held back by one major flaw: completion of a level does not give you the tools to beat the next one. Rather, you reach a point where you simply have to grind until you can increase your abilities enough. When will flash developers learn grinding =/= fun? Give us fixed rewards upon completion (and for the first completion only), a way to reset skills, and a proper difficulty curve.
I just can't find a suitable category for this game... any advises?
