If you enchant your gear properly you can be nearly invincible. Everyone talks about MP regen, which is nice, but if you keep your elemental and physical defenses high enough most things will be hitting you for 0 damage. The way the stats work is very simple, if you hold you mouse click on an enemy and see that it does 80 physical damage and 5 fire damage than anything equal to or greater than 80 physical defense and 5 fire resistance will result in 0 damage being taken. I focused completely on balancing out my defense and at the end the only things that could hurt me were the wyverns and the final boss.
Just wanted to add to X0XSarahX0X's comment.
I just found a shrine A GIFT OF MAGIC. It gave me an orb not listed in the comment called Orb of Replenishment which grants 20% health/power recovery at the end of every battle.
I didn't see any tips for the hard badge in top comments so I will do my best to help.
1. Purchase max engine/transmission/wheels and as much fuel as you can.
2. How you control the car really matters! Try to hold back to pop the wheel up when going over stretches with lots of rocks. Always try to land with both wheels at once and stay level for the most speed on stretches of flat surface. You should be able to get 750+ on first day with some practice.
3. Purchase the gun and as much ammunition as possible. You should also be able to max out your fuel at this point.
4. Max out your ammunition and purchase the booster and as much boost as possible. Use tiny spurts of boost to get up hills and activate early enough before boxes to break through.
I would love to know how close I am getting to finishing the last level. I am honestly giving up because I am not sure if I am even getting close or not. I have a feeling I am getting close sometimes but just because I have no idea how close I am, I have lost motivation. If I saw that I got close a few times then I would believe in myself a little more and possibly complete your game.
I don't really understand all of the hate for this game going on recently. Flash games don't get much more high quality than this. Pseudolonewolf is brilliant and this really is a gem. The only reasons I can think of for not liking it are either A) Platformers just aren't your kind of thing or B) The story line hits a little close to home :P
Um the top comment about beating the boss is helpful but honestly it's a bit easier than that. From what I could tell the boss has a set pattern. It will move in this order: Top row once then bottom row twice, then middle row, and repeat.
I didn't see this mentioned in the game but there are hidden upgrade powerups in the clouds. If you manage to jump high enough and snag one you get 1 point to spend. It is tricky to spot them and even trickier to grab them though since they move.
More complete list thanks to 77zip879 and Filecabinet_Guy. Here are the locations of most if not all of the hidden item caches. Again, please message me if I missed any. 1. Hatch on the ground in upper left corner of Laszlo boss fight. 2. The lever on the well outside Boris' mansion. 3. Knock over both bookshelves during Father Otis battle. (Haven't checked myself. I missed this one) 4. Underneath the moose head in the tavern fight with the Redshields. 5. Look for a golden sparkle in the pile of garbage during the Zofia boss fight. **Please + this comment to keep it visible for everyone. This is my one and only repost.**
Update to my previous post thanks to messages from 77zip879 and Filecabinet_Guy.
I missed this one)
4. Underneath the moose head in the tavern fight with the Redshields.
5. Look for a golden sparkle in the pile of garbage during the Zofia boss fight.
I'm not sure if I found all the hidden item caches but I searched for them pretty extensively. I only found three. They were in the following locations. I would love it if someone messaged me any that I missed.
1. Under a hatch in upper left corner during Laszlo boss fight.
2. Under the moose head during the tavern brawl with the inbred mercenaries.
3. During the final battle with that Czar girl it's in the pile of garbage in the back corner. Look for a glimmering gold spot.
I really did love this game but it leaves little room for error if you want to get through it easily. Certain skills such as Mockery are pretty much necessary for success. But god I really did love this game. Especially the dialogue. I'm looking forward to Episode 2.
Wonderful game! The only addition I can think of that would add a lot of flavor to the game would be detailed bestiary entries for each minion with some interesting background information about each one. Regardless I give this 5/5. :D
This might be the only impossible badge where I didn't fight through fits of rage to get. Oh, it was challenging for sure but I just enjoyed this game that much! This is a kong classic.
