Sorry, but I wasn't impressed. This was a very safe concept for your first time. You should have been a bit bolder.
As for the game itself, I must say that it feels rather dull. This repetitive sort of game requires something to make it silly, maybe a bit of upbeat music or ridiculous medals. Add a title screen, and it will look so much better. My main point is that JMTB02 could make this a fun game, without changing the gameplay at all. If you want to call it that.
Wonderful! I agree with lung4195. This genre is always successful, and I commend you for taking a look at greatness and trying to replicate it. I must also point out, however, that this game is fairly unique in its genre. It wasn't as horribly sad, dark, and depressing as most others. In fact, the story reflects the game itself, which is nice. It is a kind, happy light in the midst of dark-themed emo stories. Good job!
The biggest problems with this game revolve around exp. It needs an alternate use. Party upgrades such as MP regen speed and max MP are good ideas. Maybe increasing unit travel speed. Or maybe we could buy items. We could purchase accessories, or have exp requirements to use certain accessories.
It seems like a good game, but it really turns off new players when they can't understand the game. How was I supposed to know that food and forage are different? Sure, I could read the tutorial, but what's reading compared to an interactive crash course?
How can this be less than 5? It's just a black screen! What is there to go wrong? There are no glitches, there are no problems, just people who think it's funny to be an idiot. Oh, wait, I just remembered. That's why people rate this "game" down. Because the Kong chatrooms are chock-full of retards. Whatever.
