I really wish tactics could be more varied than "red gem surrounded by amplifiers." This makes the max difficulty w/o premium a breeze, but trying to deviate from that results in a predictable loss.
If you want neat stuff you need to level up. If you want to level up you need to set the difficulty on high. If you want to beat the high difficulty its about red gem + amps. That's basically it.
The artwork and animation is decent. The visual effects are pretty good.
I find the writing and story weak though. We're dealing with cave monsters from beyond the veil that rend normal people limb from limb yet they can't seem to do much more than bruise Indy Kid and platonic lady friend.
I really feel there could have been more to this game.
We needed a mascot and an upgrade, and the option to upgrade a promise for twitter and facebook integration in any future title.
Oh yeah, and a waifu who is also upgradable. SO RONERY.
I liked this game a lot, but I thought it could have been made even better.
There were some minor text glitches (acid arrows showing up as poison arrows.) It seemed to me like melee weapons and spells were both kind of useless in this game. Neither had the kind of firepower to take stuff down like your bow, even when you had default arrows.
Advice: Save up all your money after you buy the composite bow in the first map. After you defeat the first boss spend ALL of your money on potions. They heal a percentage of health and get more expensive throughout the game for the same benefit.
I ended up buying like 45 and never ran out.
But I had a lot of fun playing this game.
I thought this game was for the most part a lot of fun. Some parts could have been done better, for instance the chain mechanic got VERY annoying at times since it stops the action for a few seconds. I think this could have been replaced by a bit of text that scrolled up with the bonuses you earned instead of the stop action.
The dialog also could have used an actual proofread. Its as if it was either done by an otakutard or a Japanese person who just ran the text through babelfish. Some snippets of dialog mae me groan.
Overall though I liked the game, it grabbed my attention for a little over two hours.
I don't see this as offensive because I think that's specifically what Adult Swim is going for. It tends to cater to the trendy adolescent atheist crowd that unthinkingly embraces a lack of morals and bashes Christians because it's just the cool thing to do. Everyone's doing it.
