Yu-Gi-Oh has always been more fun to play than any other card game to me, and BAM is no different!
However, saying a game was originally developed for Facebook is still no excuse to utilize energy. You already have Duel Points, Coins, and Card Pieces; it would be benefiting both the customers that play the game and your sales by getting rid of energy altogether.
Also, I'm not a fan of micro-managing the forums to the point of not allowing expression of one's personal interests or hobbies. It's really archaic and unnecessary.
Aand another one of these Mafia Wars style web browsing flash based games. More props to the people that enjoy them but I wish these types of games had their own genre. Replaying the same mission over and over to get 100% and clicking through menus before getting into fights is boring and always has been, but I was never a fan of Mafia Wars either.
So sick of the pay to play crap.. it plagues every game now. I'll finish the first mission or tutorial, sometimes even before then, and a pop up or something on the interface will light up suggesting I buy a new ship or piece of equipment. "Sure! How much in-game cash will it cost?" I'm then prompted to buy this crap with real money. I know developers have to make their money, but charge me a one-time premium and not his bullcrap. Because of this I rarely, RARELY play "free" online games anymore.
Dude I don't even care. I'm playing this and beating it not because it's badge of the day, and not because it's awesomely rated above 4.0. I'm playing and beating this because of the Chrono Cross reference(Radical Dreamers FTW!!).
@duskshine Your strategy worked on the third try. Not only do the red 'notes' flow at the same pace than the other 'notes,' but it's also much easier in my opinion to weave in and out of them. Thanks for the tip!
I really hate the ads that target the overly testosterone egotistical male- "DOMINATE YOUR SLAVE. KILL THE WEAK." Give me a break, it's so offputting. No thanks. (Not rating this since I haven't played it, I'm just simply giving this a pass)
Why is it taking so long to load now? I played this game for the first time this morning, and it loaded in 5 seconds. Now when I try to play, it takes 5 seconds to load 5 kilobytes- this is taking FOREVER. What the hell?
Fun little memory/find-the-item game. There IS a rather big glitch though. On level three if you use the hint to find the feather, the game freezes and comes up with an error. It halts the whole game's script. =/ I won't rate it because I kind of feel it's an incomplete game, though if that's fixed I'll come back and give a better opinion. =]
@MushMiso If it IS a Gunbound 'rip off,' then I would hope it is executed better. Buying in-game items with in-game money OR real life money STILL makes those items last only 3 months at the least or up to a year at the most. It makes NO sense to force the player to rent in-game merchandise instead of permanently purchase. In turn Gunbound is ripping the player off in pulling that crap. And by the way.. Gunbound would be a 'rip off' of Worms, and Worms a ripoff of a game before it, until you dwindle it down to Pong. No game truely 'rips off' another.
Combat's a joke hm? Circling around enemies isn't monotonous at all.. there are two major strategies to consider. Clockwise.. or counter-clockwise.. I choose to be a rebel and go counter. =P
I'm not going to retract my score until I beat the game, but this does have to be mentioned. I received a call from my dentist just as soon as I entered a battle. The phone's no where near me- though I did manage to dwendle the enemies' numbers before running to answer. I run back, and I'm dead(with over 200 HP left too). I didn't think this was a big deal at first, but now I'm in agreement with the majority- there NEEDS to be a pause button if battles are going to last as long as they are. Also- can an update be made so that you can buy that stupid gold bag from a shop? Thanks..
Currently I'm in the desert portion of the game, and I have to say I'm hooked! The game started out very slow(which may be offputting to new players- possibly have a wider gun selection that's cheaper in the beginning?), but once I played for about an hour I couldn't stop. Lovin' it so far, looking forward to the kongregate achievements and Part 2! 5/5 already, and I haven't even beat it yet. =]
Very addictive game. Elements starts out extremely slow in the beginning- but the entertainment accelerates like a train. As it builds more momentum, it becomes all the more fun to play. =) The variety adds volumes to the replayability, and I'd like to see merchandise and more mediums to enjoy the game on(iPhone maybe? XBLA or home console versions?).
I have two major complaints though. As far as I can tell, certain elements are stronger than others, making the game imbalanced. Case in point- Element of Gravity's Gravity Shield is absolutely overpowered. I also don't like the fact that 20 coins must be wagered to go into PVP when the matchmaking is completely off. In theory, a newcomer to the game can easily be matched with someone with over 1000+ score. This could EASILY be avoided if we could just select who we'd like to go against. This is not the case, so this seems to discourage newcomers.
@whirlwind I found it more fun than titles like Dragon Age: Origins, where you're forced to trudge down linear paths, fight the same encounters as you would on any other playthrough, and have no way to grind, period. Atleast in this game, if you choose to, you can trek down 30 floors straight for a huge challenge, then fly back up a few floors to become stronger.
@Crowe7265 How is it "gay?" Elaborate. A designer spent quite a few hours developing this so that atleast deserves an explanation..
@thespanishpower Click "Instructions" at the title screen. You drag usable items/magic to your character to use. Beginning at the 19th floor and every consecutive 10 floors, you'll begin a new quest at the shop reached prior to flying out of a cave.
I don't understand all the hate against the nightmare. It's part of the story. The reasoning behind it was pretty awesome and unexpected too.
My main beefs with the game, and why I'm not giving it a 5/5, are personal reasons. One, I hate ANY hairstyle that is up-doed for no reason. Women with short hair who have their hair in pigtails/ponytails are extremely unattractive, so having to play as one wasn't very fun. If her hair was longer thus gave reasoning behind her having to keep her hair up, I'd be more forgiving.
Also, hundreds of words were misspelled. The grammar in certain parts is off too, like here:
"I thought you're job was to spout useful information"
With all the negatives I've gone off on, this game has way more positives than negatives. Very fluid gameplay. I love all of the abilities and the exploration elements too. 4/5.
This game was very short and sweet. If it had to be one or the other though, it was absolutely sweet. The story is shrouded in mystery and little complexities that makes me wonder what's -really- going on. The one-sided conversations hold greater meaning than a typical narration, and so forth.
Even though the copy/paste gameplay mechanic has been done before, it certainly shines here. 5/5!
Not many games make you feel accomplished after beating them, and My Pet Protector does. Don't get me wrong though; the weapons and armor are oddly placed even if randomly generated, and luck is a huge factor in what happens in combat, but once you figure out how the game works and how to get through each dungeon; THAT is rewarding. Overall I'll give it a 4/5. It's not exactly my favorite game on Kongregate but it was fun!
