You shouldn't play 1v1 if "fairness" is your main concern. If you want a challenge, however, they're quite fun. Sometimes winning while going second is luck, certainly, but it's also about tactics more than you might think. 1v1 is an entirely different game than with 3+ players, and it requires different strategies.
I've lost a lot of games over the years. Some were because of bad dice, a few were because of teamers, and others were because I goofed up, but I never lost a game because someone cheated. I don't know who these mystery hackers are, but they sure don't seem to play much.
@MrJealous: I don't know about the cards disappearing thing, but it should be physically impossible to have five cards and no match as there are only three variations plus wild cards.
There's a glitch where if you play more than one 1v1 game in a row, you might end up with the exact same starting country positions from the previous game. It doesn't happen all the time, but enough to notice nonetheless.
And making the problem worse is that we have no way of knowing if a suicider/teamer/hacker warning is legit. Sure, YOU say this person is the king of the bastards, but what proof do you have? In the chat menu I frequently see players who I've repeatedly won against get accused of hacking. Unless they're really, really, bad at hacking, they're not doing it. I've seen the same thing with supposed teamers, and while it isn't quite as common with suiciders, I still can't take any of the claims seriously. At best I disregard these people, at worst I wonder if they might just be sore losers.
I'm familiar with actual suiciders, and they are certainly a problem. However, I think the majority of claims are not actual suiciders. People cry suicider the moment a player breaths on them; somehow it never occurs to them that other players have a vested interest in not letting them win. This is an even bigger problem with supposed teamers, though; just because two players are attacking you instead of each other doesn't mean they are teamers or even allied; they'd just rather work together than see you win. And don't even get me started on people who cry hacker...
If people actually designated suiciders I might agree. However, in both games I play and game I observe, I far more often see people instantly cry suicider when the other person is just trying to prevent them from winning the game (which is kind of the point). Then the sore loser in question whines on here and may or may not make an absurd absolutism about people deserving to be shot.
What you think you're saying when you complain about teamers, suiciders, and "boosters" (wtf?): "That guy sucks! *insert homophobia here*
What you're actually saying: Hi everyone, I'm a sore loser and should be avoided at all costs!
Let's go back to the good old days when the comments were used for talking strategy and dick jokes.
It seems like I get all the health power ups in the world when I'm at full health, yet once I actually need one I can't get it. And some levels don't seem to have them at all.
Alright, after splurging on my first fighting move (that two sided kick one), I can say with confidence that upgrades definitely make a difference. This entire idea of merit over upgrades does not work out.
Yes upgrades definitely make a huge difference, but not all moves upgrades are suitable to fight all enemies. So you need to experiment with the best combo that suit you best
THE 7 COMMANDMENTS OF 2V2 RISK
-Thou shalt not knowingly place troops directly next to enemy troops save in Australia and Britannia, for it is dickish and counts on luck over strategy
-Thou shalt place half thine armies first if thee created the game. Then the second player shalt place all of his armies before thee places all of thine. Thus fair distribution is achieved. This does not apply if thine enemy starts with a bonus.
-Thou shalt use thine enemy's country's against him as cover, for the enemy cannot pass through his own countries.
-Thou shalt camp in Great Britain sparingly, for to do so frequently is dickish, and usually relies on poor rolls.
-Thou shalt attack until one can attack no more, for one receives 1 army for every 4 countries held after 9.
-Thou shalt read the rules of the game before entering a game, and thou shalt not bitch about said rules when the game is freely entered.
-Thou shalt realize that 2v2 has a large luck element, and that it is all just for fun.
Fun game, but the controls are far too limited. I have an entire keyboard at my disposal, yet only two buttons are used for attacking. Adding a control for spear throwing alone would mean I wouldn't end up accidentally launching javelins every time I pick one up.
I appreciate not needing to refresh, but it's so much harder now to set up a game. Sometimes no one's even on here. Ideally people would just realize that registration isn't hard, but I think I'd be willing to give up not having to refresh if it meant more people again.
