As Sagron said, MUDs are NOT for everyone. I've been playing Imperian about five years now, I played Aetolia for about a year and I've been on Lusternia on and off for about a year- I don't figure I need to say which is my favorite. They all have their own ups and downs. I personally love the PK of Imperian. It's high speed, intense, and among the actual combatants you never know who's going to win until the fight actually ends. I'm still absolutely addicted to IRE MUDs and expect to be for years to come. Signed, Lalaith, from Imperian.
