Actually lemmings do not commit suicide. In fact when they're running really fast away they're just looking for a new place to live if the colony becomes over populated. Yes, some of them accidentally die but them purposely killing themselves is just a myth. The film makers who created this myth didn't film them correctly making it look like that.
