I try to publish a custom item, but it doesnt load thumbnail, as it keeps getting stuck on the custom item processing tumbnail screen. help?

I have a couple of questions i need to ask... and i just started today. first off... how to your right and left hand? i usally need this to buy a clay more. second... how to get mastery points? it says to promote my student to get points, but how? i need this to upgrade my strengh, which i need for a plate mail. There are awnsers im looking for. not insults.
