So much wasted potential. So little choices.
If the raiders of this game were in an actual tower defense, they'd get the crap kicked out of them. You got ONE unit that can do damage, ONE tank unit, ONE way to cancel bog/holy, etc. etc. Everything moves at the same speed. You can't use the swarm method, or really ANY other method. The three spells were bland and boring. No way to destroy towers. Why are the monsters even traveling on a road, in plain sight? I mean, come on.
Tower defense games keep coming up with new ways for the enemies to screw you over, but I've not yet seen a single tower attack game that can reciprocate. Think about games like gemcraft and desktop tower defense. All the enemy types, the custom pathing, the manifold defenses. The second highest rated game on Kongregate shouldn't be flinging arrow towers at goblins.
Great TD game and upgrading system, but some combinations are just completely broken. Sentry with Linker-Fork-Splash, for example, wipes out just about everything. In fact, I finished the final level by just spamming those all over the place with 1 amplifier/range scanner.
Also, some towers are useless. Tracer and Splicer couldn't do anything sentries, compressors, and scanners could do better.
There also aren't any levels that require extensive usage of tower movement or recycling. Why even add those features if they're completely optional and uneccessary?
This game is a true masterpiece!
I could go on about how there's so many different paths to take, how strategy with the RNG is involved, about all the things that make this game great, but I'd rather not :D
This is like the original contra, and a lot of other hard and old games.. How? Both games are absurdly difficult, but in a good way. Nice to play something that's actually a challenge in a world where flash games are too easy.
