P2W makes Kong $. That's probably the only reason Kong is still around. Let the people who are willing to spend their hard earned money on this garbage do it, and let the dev's reap their rewards. Yes, freemium is very predatory and annoying, but so are a lot of things. I also get annoyed by this, but Kong has to make enough money to stay afloat. Let them prosper from, and even badge this kind of crap, so we can keep our diamonds in the rough that pop up every now and then from great, creative dev's that aren't just out to make a buck. When it comes down to it, it is our choice whether or not to pay to play, or just play. If we really want to make a difference, we will spend our Kreds wisely. Free games will not make money, and will never get as much support as freemium games unless we donate.
Good to see a Dev so involved in what we have to say! I'm just sitting here moving my mouse around, and thinking "could the hitboxes on the aliens be a little more forgiving?" Then I think "What if they introduce a Space Invaders style upgradable hero instead!?" I think this could be another huge element to the game, but I also know this would take a lot of work. Just would be nice to associate some sort of sprite, maybe a teen with attitude, to my mindless mouse wiggling (which my wife looks at me funny for doing for hours... she doesn't understand.)
I did enjoy this game years ago, and am excited for this "rework." Once this is polished up, I could see it going freemium mobile. Some suggestions I have: A notification that tells you when you have enough Resources and Research Points to buy research. Maybe change the abbreviations for research points (RP) and resources per second (RPS) to not be so similar. Could be confusing for new players. Maybe call them Research & Development Points (RDP) and Income Per Second (IPS). Choose whichever synonyms you like! Offline gains should also be a a part of research... make us work for it! Regardless, this is an oddly addicting not so idle game. I look forward to seeing where this goes.
Seems like everyone is falling for it. Upgrade is truly complete. 5/5 for knowing how the unwashed masses would react to all of this. Good Trumping, bro!
Confirm navigation dialogue? Seriously? For a freemium game so redundant and derivative? Are the cartoon tits really worth it? Most of all, why is this badged?
EVERYONE! You have your badge and bonus points. Check http://www.kongregate.com/kongpanions for the big blue check mark. It's there, don't worry. Something is just wrong with the notification.
Do my troops really abandon the campfire during an attack? They should be fighting to the death to defend the village I worked so hard to provide them.
Furthermore, pay to play does not fly on a flash game of this caliber. The artwork is very inviting (despite the loss of the more inviting quest personality), but either make the upgrades worth the wait, or reduce the upgrade times on higher levels. Keep us returning and interested. You will make more profit with this from word of mouth (or text) than charging for quick fix upgrades. If people get tired of how long everything takes, they will get annoyed, 1 star this game, and move on to something else.
Also, soldiers not killed in battle should return to the campfire. Maybe add a healing feature or even keep them at diminished health, but just straight up losing them is kind of broken. How about a sacrifice that would return a portion of the spent resources from wounded warriors (as horrible as that sounds)? Maybe bring back the old quest lady too. I personally found her much more appeasing to look at as I achieved certain tasks, as opposed to this new Barbie Doll tribal valley girl.
When the battle is over, all the troops deployed on the battlefield disappear. You have to keep in mind that the Jungle Wars is a strategy game, which means that deploying troops is the most important aspect of conducting an attack. Your troops are your precious resources and you need to manage them wisely. Plan each battle carefully and expend the optimum number of units of each type. If you deploy all your troops in one battle, you might in the end gain less resources than you used to win the battle.
Option to queue upgrades, please. It'd be nice to have my workers know what their next task is as long as I have the resources. Just because I'm away doesn't mean they have to sleep all day.
You could do away with researching or upgrading only one thing at a time, or make research and upgrade times shorter. Alternatively, you could introduce "personnel" (which one may purchase with in game currency earned in battle) to increase how much research and upgrading one can have going on at once. There is plenty that can be done with this, such as having each hired personnel more skilled in one area than another. This could affect upgrade and research speed depending on who is chosen to perform the duty, and does not lock the personnel into working just one area. This makes for a little more involvement than the player simply popping in, upgrading, fusing, researching, scanning, battling, and moving on to other games.
Thanks for the feedback!
