Can someone explain how the fighting with monsters even works? It seems very inconsistent. Some fights I'll have none and I lose right off the bat, and others I have all my monsters. What the hell is going on?

Amazing Game!!!! I just wish you could go back to levels you've already played to gain more upgrade points.
